Thanks, and yes we did do a ride way back when. Will for sure use that code if I pick one up. One of the things that bugs me is the set up fee. Seems like a money grab but I guess if they move it to the basement it isn't too bad.

Yes to both. The pedals can screw off just like a normal bike, and the shoes are normal bike shoes. I have Peloton branded shoes that I got with the bike, but I prefer to use my normal road bike shoes.

Took delivery of our bike yesterday afternoon and had a nice little 30 minute beginners course to break it in! Really pumped about this while thing.

I've added follows to everyone I've seen handled for in this thread. If anyone wants to follow I'm SC_Ag. Feel free to shame me if I'm not on there multiple times a week! Accountability right?!

We have had it for about 16 months now. My wife is the primary user, but I'm on it for at least 2 45 minute work outs per week. Go figure. The hardest part of the Peloton workout is starting. Once you hit the 10-15 minute mark, you're there.

I find that I get really varied results from different instructors. Way higher output from people like Alex and Jess than Hannah or Jenn.

I guess Christmas came early, my bike was ordered today as a present from the wife and in-laws. Tried to use the referral code but the "BESTOFFER" one for the works package was automatically applied.

I am BQ2001 on it, hope to have it all set up in a couple weeks.

After being up late on Saturday at the game the wife and I finally pulled the trigger and went back into the Peloton Store in Austin and made our purchase on Sunday. We had been planning on it as a Christmas gift and were going to do it closer to Christmas but with the special they had going on and the wife needing riding shoes we went and ordered it. Now waiting on the bike to ship for our delivery. I feel like a kid counting down to Christmas.

It's a good time. I have I think 7 rides in 2 weeks so far. It has gotten me on it just by looking at it a couple times.

On another note, I tried the Peloton treadmill the other day in the store. It's amazing, huge, and very expensive.

The tread is indeed awesome but no way I could justify that price. It felt so good and quiet it is crazy. Mine now sounds like a herd of rhinos running compared to it.

Any idea when/if a new generation will be coming out?

Didn't want to ready through the whole thread so can someone give me the cliffs notes on why this would be a good purchase? I've had indoor bikes before and absolutely hated exercising on them. I would much rather be outside riding but the short days and weather this time of year don't allow me to be consistent getting out there. I need more exercise.

Pretty sure the gimmick/selling point here is the "Live" instructor that sets your workout for you so you don't have to set it yourself and you can be "surprised" by the workout. Essentially just better motivation. Makes it feel like you are outside sort of.

I'll also add that I'm a part of a power zone Facebook group that is pretty cool. We have a set 8 week ride schedule and keep each other accountable for hitting all the rides each week. Each team has a GoT theme team name and you can see members of your team riding with you.

Some in the group have hit a 50 mile ride on a Saturday together and competed.

Bought mine in November and have loved it.

I've used a "dumb" bike trainer in the past but never really liked doing those workouts. I've stopped riding over the past few years just due to time constraints, but picked up a Peloton at Thanksgiving and it has been great. I have only done one live ride, but love that I can get on after I put my daughter to bed and pick a ride and get a 30, 45, 60 min workout in whenever I want. I find the leader board to be a motivation too, go a little harder than I thought I would to climb up. I have also been able to do rides when my daughter is watching a movie and I'm in the same room, it is super quiet.

One added thing I have liked is the app to do running workouts (included with the subscription). I did a great 45 tempo run workout on my treadmill yesterday with it. In the past, pushing myself on my own to go harder/faster has been a struggle.

It is expensive and not perfect for everyone's goals for sure, but it has worked with my schedule.

Update: I went to the Peloton store in Austin and checked them out. Really nice. Now I have to convince myself to drop that kind of cash on it. I have to make my mind up that I will use it.

Side note: The girls working at the store were easy on the eyes!

The Austin store is very nice on the eyes. They are also very helpful even after you buy the bike. My wife was having an issue and we went into the store and they got her fixed up and adjusted in there. Gave us the numbers and then called a few days later to make sure that she got it adjusted properly.

HI all,

Looking into the Peloton treadmill to replace my orange theory membership I have been throwing away. Would the treadmill be okay to keep in the garage here in Austin? I imagine temperature in the garage would rarely get below freezing but was curious on how that would affect the lcd screen.

For shoes I use my Shimano TR5 Tri Bike shoes and they work great. I also use my garmin heart rate monitor
