Got a peloton a few weeks ago and just did ride 12 today.

Noticed if I'm in the top half of the #TexasAggies I'm in the top 1/3 or 1/4 of the total board. Keep it up Ags

You idiots are still all killing it. Top 40% for us, top 25% for everyone else. Hit 9x output on a 20 minute for the first time today

If someone can help me out... I'm a regular on my Peloton, but don't 'connect' with anyone. I am not the most tech-savy guy out there, I only know basics, but if someone could guide me through the steps to join the #texags, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

I'm on as LuckyArsenalAg

Really loving the stretching and cycling classes. Tried one of the outdoor running classes, and while it was fine, thats just not for me.

Overall, very pleased

Do yall have any idea what would be making this squeak on our bike? Its slowly gotten a bit worse over the last week or two. Very annoying.

Email customer service with the video. We did for a different type noise and they were quick to reply and diagnose the problem. Took awhile, a month or so, to ship the part but once they had it in stock it was also quick to schedule an appointment.

My first guess would be either something with your cleats or a crankarm getting loose. Is it only doing it on the right side when the foot is at the bottom of the pedal stroke? Is it happening regardless of who is riding?

If it happens regardless of who is riding, I would check that the pedal is tight on the crank, and make sure there is no slack in the crank arm.

If it only happens when the same person is riding it, I would focus on the cleats. Looks like you are using Look Deltas, correct? Are they showing signs of wear? Are all of the bolts holding the cleat to the shoe tight? Try taking a paper towel and wiping out the gunk under the front and back lips on the cleats. If there is black or gray gunk on the towel, keep working at it until the lip of the cleat is clean and try again. If that doesn't make it better, put a little chain lube on the towel to wipe it under the edge and see if it fixes the issue. If the cleats are showing significant wear, try replacing the cleat.

Just based on the limited sound I heard, I am guessing it is cleats wearing out, but sometimes just a little gunk building up will make them pretty noisy.

Sounds like a cleat, not a belt or bike related.
It only happens when her right foot is down.

I'd recommend loosening the cleat receivers(?) on the pedals and re-clip in.

Pedal in tennis shoes and see if the noise is still there. Ours was a different noise, but similar situation. It only made the noise when pedaling down on the left pedal, it was worse at lower cadences, if I'm remember correctly, could have been the opposite. Did it for me, my wife (different shoes), still did it when I tested it with tennis shoes.

We sent a video to Peloton via email, they replied the next day that it was the crankarm and sent a new one. The technician came out to install it and basically tightened up every other connection. His words were the factory didn't do a good job of final assembly and inspection and basically everything was loose. He also noticed our screen wasn't level so ordered us new handlebars to fix that.

The customer service is good, use it if you need to.

Yep, this is what it is.. the cleats rubbing against the pedals. When i had this happen it was because my cleats became lose from the shoe. OR.. (less likely)

Losen the clips in the pedals or adjust the location of your cleats..

Getting my bike delivered today. Pretty pumped. Is there a good quick reference beginners guide over the last 4 years of threads to review? Is there a way to follow other Texags riders as a group or just individually? Thanks!

Exciting! Your delivery people will adjust the bike to fit you and show you everything you need to know to get started.

If you go to your profile on the app, you can add several hashtags and then you can filter the leaderboard for anyone else riding with those hashtags. There is a #texasaggies and a #texags with quite a few people.

Nice welcome!
My beginner reference advice would be to google a video on how to position your seat, handle bars, etc. I used this one by CDE: https://www.facebook.com/christinedercolefitness/videos/774167669384148/
Your butt will get used to the uncomfortableness of the saddle. Padded bike shorts will help.
Have fun! Feel free to follow. My handle is Bradley331

Thanks all! Is there a recommended heart rate monitor? I have an Apple Watch but have t had much luck with the heart cast app. I didn't get the +. I'd like to record the workout on my Apple Watch as well as have my heart rate used for the metrics on the Peloton.

I use the Peloton monitor. No complaints, it syncs the metrics from my rides to the Health app. I do wish it worked independently of the bike, but that wasn't a dealbreaker for me.

I'm not as familiar with Apple watches. But I use RunGap to sync my rides from peloton to garmin.

Today was my first day back following taking 6 months off after total hip replacement. I did a beginner ride. Not much of a challenge but felt good being back.

Prior to surgery I was doing Power Zone training and loved it. What's the next best step since I'm not new to Peloton? Do I start with learning my power zones or stick with beginner rides for a few weeks? I don't have any medical restrictions.

Thanks!

Obligatory "ask your doctor"

But I would think easing back into things pretty slowly would be best. While you want to get back where you were, your body will need time to re-acclimate to all the change. Going out too hard/fast could set you up for a set-back, which would be even more frustrating.

ETA: You can always stack easier rides if you're just looking for more volume, but want to keep the intensity down. As you progress, throw in a shorter, more challenging ride with the easier ones to slowly ramp up the intensity and just see how you feel.

Agree with Yell. Definitely a situation to discuss with your doc.

Generally though, I'd start with PZE rides of not more than 30 minutes until you really get a feel for it. I wouldn't try an FTP test any time soon, but you may be more recovered than in giving credit for.

I imagine the replacement will mess with your geometry a bit, so perhaps paying for a new fit session would be money well spent.

I would start with the "low impact" rides and short duration power zone endurance rides. If you have done power zone training before, you should be able to figure out Z2 and Z3 well enough to do the classes without retaking an FTP class right away. As others have said, consult your doc, but if they are ok with it, I would build from there. The next step from the "Discover your power zones" and "Build your power zones" is to join the power zone pack (www.pzpack.com) and try one of the challenges. Might be a bit early for you to join the next one that starts Jan 3rd, but it is only 6 weeks long and there will be a new one starting roughly 6 weeks after that is done.

As you get back into riding again, pay really close attention on the quality of your pedal stroke. You want everything to feel smooth, round, and want to have your knee tracking in a straight line over your foot. You may need to play with the bike fit adjustments to get there, but you just want to avoid anything that feels like you have a hitch in your cadence or that causes undue stress on your knees or hips due to bad form. Work on higher cadence and lower resistance until you get your legs under you and then slowly bring up the resistance. I would avoid doing standing work until you really have confidence in your legs and the smoothness of your pedal stroke, as standing work is the toughest on your hips and has the most risk of causing problems if you get out of balance or try to run too fast.

Thanks! Great advice.

Doc was against the Peloton during rehab because of the ability to pull up on the pedals and I understand that. I could walk all I wanted. He signed off on a 3 night/4 day backpacking trip to Big Bend last month. My son and I did the Outer Mountain Loop. About 30 miles. Pack weight was 32 pounds and no issues. That said, I had increased my walking distance and weight carried incrementally over that 5 month period.

I'll ease back into it and be ready for the next challenge!

I've been lurking on this thread for a while, and finally had my peloton delivered over the weekend. I have done a few rides and am really liking it so far. I am still trying to figure out the bike/classes have to offer. Leaderboard name is SABenny09.

Just finished up my 2 month or so program. Made some adjustments to my pedal stroke, i.e. slow it down from the mid-90's to mid 80's and had some significant output gains. The next adjustments will be to my position itself. I have a feeling I am sitting too low and forward and have been slowly tweaking things.

Last FTP took my avg output up nearly 15%, and I'm right at 3 watts/kg.

I'm also down about 20 lbs since mid 2021 and really interested to see how my blood test results look when I go get tested to see how my cholesterol numbers look.

So yeah, Really enjoying the PZ program and hope it keeps going.

I told myself if I hit an average of 300 kj on an FTP test, I'd start training for a triathlon and it's achievable on my next FTP test I think.
