Just got a Peloton bike

Ok, I feel like I'm losing my mind a bit. Did the last bike update change the output calculation? Since the end of the last PZ challenge, I've dropped back on riding quite a bit (~1-2 rides/week). This morning I got on and the resistance numbers that would normally correlate to my zones at my natural cadence (~90rpm) were giving me outputs noticeably lower.

For example, I looked back at a 60 min PZE ride from November - 49 resistance, 90 rpm gave me an output 213-226.

This morning, 30 min PZE ride - 49 resistance, 95 rpm gave me an output of 196-207. So higher cadence produced lower output. What?!

So consequently, my zones were out of whack relative to the level of effort needed to hit and maintain the appropriate zone. Has anyone else noticed this or had this issue?

Well, yesterday I was about 50 kj off my PR on a ride, and I was absolutely gassed. I just attributed it too much drinking on Friday night....

Maybe they "fixed" it. Was pretty well known it was over estimated. People who upgraded from the original peloton to the plus were resetting all their numbers because they were never coming close to them.

I did a 60 min PZE today and came within 3 or 4 of my 60 min PR. So maybe they corrected mine the other way?

Otherwise, I haven't noticed much and I'm riding at least 4x a week right now.

I was in the same boat, got my Peloton in the summer of 2020 and was good for about ten months, then the in laws stayed with us when they moved here and were looking for a house. Them being here for two months got me off schedule. Then hurt my knee playing of all things softball. I probably could have started back up in October but just couldn't find the motivation. Finally got back into it on the first of the month and have gotten back into the groove, even did the FTP test today because there was no way in hell I was going to be able to hit my old numbers

Had to take 6 months off after hip replacement in June. Did my FTP at the end of December. Boy, was it lower than back in June! Joined the current challenge. It's great to be back on the bike!

I went in the Austin store and bought a peloton a week ago. Scheduled delivery for 2/12. Just noticed this thread and now I'm growing even more impatient with excitement ha.

I didn't upgrade my bike, but I haven't come close to any of my PR numbers for about 2-3 weeks now. Comparing similar rides, most metrics are improving except for output. I know it doesn't really matter but I nearly killed myself on a 45 minute HIIT/Hills ride yesterday and was 44 below my PR and I was mildly annoyed by that because average resistance, cadence, distance, etc were all much higher than my PR (which was on the same ride).

Oh well, not the end of the world.

In my experience, a HIIT ride is usually off my PR. The design is to work hard about half the ride. I don't think any of my PRs have come from a HIIT ride, honestly.

Olivia's 45 minute HIIT and Hills was 1 point off of my PR yesterday. She whips my tail on those rides

Interesting. My 30 and 45 minute PRs are both on HIIT/Hills rides - though to your point, when I PR'd them I did make the conscious choice to work at least half way the way through the all of the recoveries specifically because I wanted to PR. 60 and 10 minute PRs were on a climb, and 20 and 15 minute were Tabata.

Mine are both classic rock rides (30 min with Olivia and 45 with the "try hard" Dennis). My last hiit/hills with Olivia was 30 mins and was 70 output points off my 30 min PR. Maybe I was just having a bad day.

Olivia is the best, and it's not close. She's a little animal.

I bonked out last Saturday. Had 90 minutes of riding planned, cut it off at about 60-65 minutes.

I had been increasing both my riding and running (outdoors and on a treadmill at work) and I think my body finally said enough was enough.

My calves, of all things, started cramping up and I called it.

Took a good day yesterday to rest and hoping I'm ready to go today. I have a PZ planned which, while one of the easier ones, still has several z4's in it.

My wife pulled the trigger on a Pelaton+ just after Christmas.

I am one year into Crossfit and have been going steady. I jumped on the Pelaton to check it out and my strain (per by WHOOP) has matched or surpassed my strain during a Crossfit WOD. In the last 2 weeks - I have used the bike more than my wife has.

Here is to dropping another 30lbs to match 2021.

Note to self again for like the third time: Do not 'jump back in' after a month long break by taking one of Kendall's metal rides. Even a 20-min ride.

I am about 20 or so rides in along with some of the other programs they offer. I can honestly say this is the hardest and funnest workouts I have ever done. I look forward to getting on the bike just about every day. I have been enjoying Kendall's rides along with Wilpers the best so far. Will be checking out some of the recommendations on here.

Just did my 25th ride today.
It seems like Dennis, Ben, and Bradley have been my go to instructors.
I'm interested in starting a hiit challenge but I'm kinda leery it will kick my ass.
Fwiw, I'm 50's in reasonable shape(5' 9", 165) but haven't done in real workouts in decades.

Any recommendations on starting a hiit challenge or what else should I be doing on the bike?

Btw, I'm loving that I'm being exposed to some music that I actually enjoy that I otherwise would never have heard.
