I'm not a Longhorn!

Sorry, I should have specified I found this online - not me or anyone I know, and I don't know the story. I did assume it was empty, driveway parked.

I didn't even look that close. I thought I recalled you having a black unit and jumped to the conclusion it was yours, happy it wasn't.

Took a week long trip to Colorado to ride bikes but we were camped right next to this very well known cruiser specialty shop. Unfortunately I didn't have time to wander around their yard but I was able to buy a hard to find part for a friend.

Is that the thing that goes in the seat? Has a few lines that go to it? I don't think my 78 had that or if it did it's long gone. But I have seen them on mud.

Edit to add- I do have one. I remember now it's just smaller than the older models.

Good memory (scary memory), I had a black 100 series, which replaced my white 80 series. I've sold it and now have a 2012 Sequoia for family trips, I should not be allowed on this thread.

This is the part. I think the plastic commonly breaks. His leaks a little fuel when you take a sharp turn.

That's what mine looks like too. I remember reading on mud once before about them and on an older model it was in the seat bottom!!

Wow that is like a 60 year old sandra bullock or 60 year old Halle berry. Looks great and tight no matter the age,

That cruiser was 55k brand new.

Damn, now that's a unicorn. If I had the spare cash I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

So, what tires are you running on your cruisers?

I currently have BFGs KO2 (285/75/16) on my 2000 100 series. They've been on since 2020 and about 60,000 miles. I'm not a heavy off-roader, but do enjoy the traction up in the mountain forest roads (summer and winter) and Big Bend backcountry roads.

I work remote now so while it was my DD my wife's GX is now our family car and the LC won't rack up the miles. I've had nothing wrong with these but looking for thoughts of others that people like.

Should I just go with the same ones again?

They have K03s now. I have some Firestone Destination XTs which I loke, but I'll look hard at the K03 for my next tire.

I've got General Grabber AT/X on mine. I like them. They came with my 80 when I bought it. I don't know if I'll stick with them or replace them with something else when the time comes.

I've been really happy with my MT Baja Boss. These skew slightly more toward offroad performance than highway, but they're still quiet and handle great on my daily driver.

Before these I had Cooper ST Maxx and they were good too, but didn't have the skinny 35" profile I wanted.

Didn't know they were there in Poncha Springs. Was thru there several times in the Spring.

Currently: the stock Dunlop Grandtreks

Getting new tires in January and heavily leaning towards OEM size Michelin Defender LTX M/S2. A little boring looking but good quality tires.

Probably can't go wrong with K03s. I have about 55k on 285/70/18 load range E ridge grapplers on the 200, next set will be Falken AT4Ws in the same size but load range C. There's a strong case for Defender MS2s for just about everyone though.

There are several threads on Mud about these tires and how they're all you'll ever need. Lots of people have taken them all over Colorado and the Alpine loop. And the on road performance should be a lot better than a true AT. As long as you're "man enough" to not need cool looking treads.

FTR I am not man enough.

What's the best way to find a clean older cruiser without breaking the bank? I need a ~6 month daily driver, and I'd like something I can retire into a 3rd vehicle for fun.

Been surfing Facebook marketplace and Craigslist and they're either all modded up or super high mileage. Would love to find something in the $12-18 range that's clean.

What series are you looking at/interested in? 60? 80? 100?

You could check IH8Mud - https://forum.ih8mud.com/forums/classifieds.4/

People there are generally Land Cruiser fanatics, so typically taken care of but they also know what they are worth and may overvalue them if anything.

You could also check the Autotrader Private Seller (individuals are selling the vehicle but an Autotrader service handles money and paperwork as a dealer) https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/by-owner/cars-between-12000-and-18000/toyota/land-cruiser/cedar-park-tx?newSearch=true&searchRadius=0

Or ask on here.

Otherwise, standards Cars.com, Cargurus, Autotrader type searches.

I have the Toyo Open Country A/T 3s on my new GX and they are great. Haven't taken them offroad yet, but they are great daily driving and have really strong reviews.

GX here with Michelin Defenders. They are the best app purpose tire on the market. About to put them on the wife's Sequoia in next couple weeks.

For the GX I'm planning on some AT just to give it a different look.

The BFG AT are a bit too aggressive for my tastes on this vehicle. I've been watching what other Lexus/Toyota trucks are using and like the looks of the Falken Wildpeak probably the best, then Nitto Tera Grapplers.

I really want a 43, but given that I'm not the intended driver, I need something in auto and have been shopping 80/82+

Oh hey! I was there too, but didn't arrive until 10:30 or so.

I'll have to post up before the next one, maybe we can meet up during it.

Edit: did you see Offroad Place's "new" mega cruiser?
