In Houston, but I don't think I want to put 21 stockers on my 13. We'll see though. I'll keep it in mind. I also may keep running the RWs (which are fantastic wheels (strong, light, etc.)) after spending so long to find them...ha!

I should have bought the HE that I had on the line at the dealer for $79k a year ago. Ugh. 100k+ now.

I hear ya! I wish I had got a HE when I bought my LC. Oh well!

I had been eyeing a 60 before the trip for a more family friendly vehicle and kind of jumped the gun on listing and selling my 40. So it was presold before I went to CO with the agreement that the price would be adjusted or I would repair any trail damage before he came and got it. I drug my muffler on a boulder and had that replaced, otherwise the truck performed flawlessly. The new owner came in from Austin with his friend that had communicated with me throughout the process in his sweet HDJ81 and they drove it back home. Bittersweet!

I'm sitting here looking at my future. Like we discussed as you bought your 40 and started working on it (all while CPjr and I were building the C-10 and our 40 was on back burner)... we have similar tastes and started with exact same base vehicles - We were on our way to building identical twin FJ40s!

Now I just sit back, consult Reddog's notes, order parts, and voila.... Thanks for this motivation!

I'll let you both know. If I make the move, I'll definitely be looking to sell the RWs to help offset the cost of the new wheels and tires.

I was planning on selling on Mud, but I've also gotten interest from the shop that takes care of my Cruiser (other folks that go there are interested). I'd rather sell to someone here though, so I'll give the Auto board first dibs.

Thought this Mecum Cruiser was pretty cool. Obviously imported, but like the extra length. I will say I don't care for the white top. Not sure if that's an original paint scheme.

Looking on Mud, these things are going for over 300 per wheel without tires, and over 2k if there are tires (although my tires are several years old).

This is for a full 5 wheel/tire set plus lugs and key. KO2 LT285/70/17

We've modified the scope of our sleeping platform project

The roof is a pain point for me honestly. You can't find metal tops for these mid wheel base trucks. They were imported to Colombia without a top due to luxury taxes. Instead the dealer would spec a fiberglass top. There are only a couple that I have seen with the most common being MPR brand. They came as ambulance doors or single swing doors. Mine has a built in rack which is cool but puts the vehicle height over what my parking garage at work can handle. Most of them also had an air intake above the windshield and vents by the driver and passenger head area to bring in fresh air to the cabin. My plan was to put a soft top on it eventually but price keeps me from doing it. Reel Steel seems to be the only reputable bow manufacturer and the canvas tops aren't all made alike.

In short the vehicle is great but sometimes I wish I had a 40 with a factory steel top.

Sold that one in 2019 and now I'm on a SB100.

I don't like this truck for several reasons. Look where the exhaust comes out. That's not anywhere close to normal. Wrong wheels for the year. Accessory lighting (creative Colombian auxiliary wiring). Antenna penetrating body in wrong spot or at all is incorrect. Aftermarket stereo means they cut the dash.

Got the layup done, bagged, and out of the bags over the weekend. It needs to cure for another day or two before we do anything with it, but it looks good so far.

I sent you a 40 for sale on Insta. It sold.

I've been making a lot more time for Marge. I have a laundry list of things to do before this summer.

Got a smoke machine and didn't find any hot or cold vacuum leaks.




Went ahead and replaced all my vacuum lines with proper metric silicone rubber ones from McMaster-Carr. You can order OEM from Toyota but they only come in like 600mm pieces. Verified my OEM VCV was good with a mighty vac.



Verified city racer carb's accelerator pump was functioning and vacuum pod was holding vac. Pulled it and checked the secondary butterfly opening compared to my OEM parts carb. Adjusted mechanical linkage and redid paperclip test.




My oil galley plug fix that I did last August was weeping.... So I pulled the outer set screw last night. Cleaned everything thoroughly and put it back in with a helping of JB weld.



Started picking on my drip rails. There is some light surface rust but no bubbles or rot. Will reseal with 3M self leveling seam sealer.

Yeah. I've been so focused on whether to get a newer LC or keep mine, that I couldn't focus on the 40. As it turns out, I missed the window on both. So, the '13 it is.
