How does that work, being "piped in"? Is it piped in the cabin so the passengers hear a V8?
Would have been much better to just build a 3.5L V8. It would be smoother and sound exponentially better. A reduction in displacement doesn't have to equal a reduction in cylinder count. Before long we'll all be stuck driving fart canons or silent electric cars.K Bo said:

Synthesized engine sound is piped in on all models (likely to simulate the tone of a V8)
Is this a real thing?
In the future if we're stuck driving some bland small displacement or electric cars that are fast but lack emotion and character, I don't think it's unquestionable to try to add some sense of character back in. You could pick from a variety of highly realistic sounds. For example you could simulate completely silent, an electric whir, shrieking Lamborghini V10, big cam V8, or a big turbo inline six. This could go further with simulated gear changes, including electronic clutch pedals and shifters that feel very much like the real thing. You should also be able to change your traction control and awd setting to give it more of a nanny free rwd feeling without allowing you to get into trouble (this is already implemented on many high end sports cars). Just food for thought.MouthBQ98 said:
Making extra noise INSIDE on purpose is idiotic.
VW even does it with the 2.0T 4-cylinder engines. Makes me crazy.MouthBQ98 said:

I'd rather they have done something about the lag. When I jump on the go pedal from a stop, that means go NOW.hatchback said:VW even does it with the 2.0T 4-cylinder engines. Makes me crazy.MouthBQ98 said:

I have a feeling it will be all the features for all the price.Superdave1993 said:
Is this going to be like an RTIC vs Yeti? All the features at half the price?
Looks like the Yukon / 'Burb line, but less like a hearse.
Best bang for the buck for families is almost always a minivan.easttexasaggie04 said:
My wife is due for a new SUV. Her Ford Edge is getting past it's prime (but it's paid for) and with 2 kids it's not quite big enough for us. I think we'll test drive the Suburban and Expedition (bigger one). Curious what the best bang for your buck is.
Check out the Flex or even better ecoboost Flex.easttexasaggie04 said:

Custom Autos by Tim will build you one...hurricanejake02 said:
Now if they'd just take the '18 Expedition, swap the F150 frame and the Explorer front end for F250 pieces, and the EcoBoost for a 6.7 Diesel, and give us back the Excursion!
