Anyone remember the local medical examiner in the 70s and 80s, Dr. Joseph Rupp? He had his own radio show for a while, and gave an interview on a public access tv show named the Bardo Matrix Show. It was really funny without meaning to be.

There used to be a barber down on CC Beach, who hosted a late night scary movie show on KRIS-tv on Saturday nights.

Anybody remember Mondo (I think that's his name)? Was supposed to be kind of like the "What's Happening in Corpus" guy. During commercial breaks on Mtv, he would tell you where the hot spot was for the coming weekend.

Food joint underneath the JFK causeway, island side. Good food, and a very relaxed atmosphere. Very Padre Island kind of place, before the developers took over.

WOW!! I just found a black and white pic online last month of the intersection of Everhart Road and Lexington Blvd (later known as SPID it said). It looked like a narrow too lane road and I think there was a Texaco on the corner. That must have been in the 7os or even earlier...I love seeing things like that. i enjoy reading/seeing the history of towns. My guess is SPID came along during this whole interstate craze?

"Wolfies" changed to "Legs" later, didn't it? It was in about the same class with "Bottoms Up". Not that I'd know anything about that ......

Does anyone remember the old Sambo's? I think it was ayers. It was close to what my family used to call the "spider web"- all the brides between SPID and the Crosstown Expressway. Whats occupying the old Sambo's building?

Not sure what's in the Sambo's you're talking about, but the former Sambo's in the Bluff is now housing a Jalisco's.

2.) Diamond Gems and Alladin's Castle in Sunrise Mall

Not so favorite memory - mandatory bussing. I got bussed to unairconditioned Cunningham in 7th grade when Haas was just down the street. The bus did go in front of Wolfy's every day on the way to school though.
