So the rib and I went to Grub Burger Bar today. The line was out the door when we got there, but after ordering we still got our food within 10 minutes. I got the Ghost burger and it was probably one of the best burger & fries I've had at a restaurant. The IPA I had to wash it down didn't hurt, either.

Grub Burger is the best. I'm so glad there is one in Midland now.

We hit Grub Burger this weekend.
I got a OMG and my wife had the Lockhart Legend with Sweet potato fries.

Double Dave's Pizza has a deal for 2 large slices of Cheese or Pepperoni and a drink for $5.

Went and got some Grub burger a few weeks ago, prices were decent. Place has a very modern/rustic feel to it. Food was delicious, didn't take too long to get our food after we ordered. We will go back again sometime.

Basin Burger still seems like a better place to watch games generally. I don't remember seeing any TV's at Grub, but the food was great.

Has anyone tried out The Athenian Restarant in Midland? Supposed to be great, though pricey, Greek food. Debating a drive over to give it a shot.

The Athenian Restaurant is a very nice white table cloth, big windowed, open to the light restaurant. Greek guitar music plays lightly over the speakers as you eat.
(I had never eaten at this location when it was an Italian place. Its in the same shopping center as the Blue Door everyone here talks about.)
I had a Classic Gyro, and it was a good as any I have ever had, maybe better. I love gyros so much it is hard to taste past my craving for the next bite to gauge better or best.
My plate had 2 gyros, 2 sides and a green salad.
My wife had the Chicken Athenian which was also very good. Stuffed chicken with a creamy sauce poured over it.
We also had a filo dough pastry filled with cheese as an appetizer. Cheese and flaky dough is hard for us not to like.
I had so much food that I had the 2nd gyro for breakfast this morning and it was even good cold.

Just had lunch at the Athenian. Great food and nice change of pace for Midland/Odessa

Grub does have a few TV's around the bar, but they aren't too big. Basin Burger is a great place to watch a game.

Love the Ghost Burger at Grub and the Mexi-burger at Basin. Top notch if you're into spicy.

Finally made it to The Athenian. The hummus was different, definitely homemade and delicious. I had a single gyro and it was possibly the best one I've had. Will definitely eat there again soon.

Does Shogun suck? I'm staying up by there this week, just looking to change it up a bit

Last time I went it did. Stick to Osaka. It always does the trick for me.

just looking for new stuff while traveling on business. Usually stick to Grub, El Banquete and some others. Hit Athenian last time, which was good. What about that brazilian steakhouse joint over by Athenian & Blue Door.

Go to Martinez Bakery on Florida south of downtown Midland and get the best sandwich I have ever had.
Order a Brisket or Ham Torta with cheese. (Soft Brisket Tacos are very good also if not in a sandwich mood.)
Both are big enough without a side of fries unless you really want them.
You can get Horchata to drink and a Cream cheese Empanada for dessert.
The perfect meal.

Pumpkin Empanada from Martinez or gtfo.

It's a typical brazillian steak house. If you've been to a fogo or tejas de brazil, you've been to that one.

Predmid, I will not touch the pumpkin empandas, they are all yours.

some friends have opened their catering business up as a lunch/takeout joint. MAC's is BBQ (original is in Brady) and is the closest thing we have to great hill country BBQ. plates are fair priced and yummy. They also have daily specials. Their Mexican food is really good. go try it (you can find them on FB at MACS catering).

Has anyone tried the new Steak 42 that opened In midland? There was a write up in the MRT LAST WEEK.

Never tried Pho - at least I know where I can try it now.
The Athenian is very good. I can't say I know what Greek food is supposed to taste like, but their food taste great. Nice sit down white table cloth place. I have a Eastern European friend at work and her friends also say it is really good. (I figured that they have tried more eclectic foods than I have.)

Lots of good Mexican Food places with decent enchiladas. La Mision, El Rancho, and El Banquete are all worth trying. There are probably 10+ others that could be added to the list, but those will get you started. All 3 are south of downtown.

Enchiladas: Carumbas on business 20- green sauce is very good & spicy.

I think I have had enchiladas at Tampicos too. Another unique options- Amy of the seafood enchiladas at Cancun are great!

Yes, but one weekend only.

If I recall correctly, the owners of Jack Jordan's do an annual trip to Louisiana to get a ton of crawfish for a weekend long boil.

I actually had pretty good crawfish at ranch land hills last week- they had a party on the patio event. Great fun , live music and open to anyone.

theres a place in Odessa that does a boil.

HEB sells the little live if you want to do them yourself.

Cafe Unique (Venezuelan) is going to be open this Friday and Saturday Evening...worth the try.

I was told to try Mr. brooks BBQ by my boss today. She said it was a total dive but the food was amazing, she said best greasy cheese burger in all of Midland.

there is supposed to be a food truck/ patio going in off of Scharbaur and Golf Course (according to yelp) that is middle eastern food. Looks good- just haven't seen it there...but there is construction there.

Also MACs BBQ is for sure doing take out- they are behind Tampico and it is good. They might have there city permit and were talking about having a patio/ BYOB there. This is the only BBQ that resembles hill country BBQ to me.

HEB in Midland was actually doing a Cajun boil this last Saturday. I went in to grab some burgers, and they had a pot going with shrimp and crawfish in it. Bought two lbs cooked and seasoned for 6.99/lb. Not sure if they are doing it again this weekend, but I plan on checking.
