Here are some local places we like:
La Mision in Midland for all kinds of tex-mex but especially for Wednesday fajitas.
Martinez Bakery in Midland for a Torta sandwich - especially ham or brisket varieties. Do not forget a cream cheese empanada for dessert.
Whitehouse Meat market on HWY 191 for a real cheese burger.
Jack Jordans BBQ in Odessa.
Saucedo's tamale factory in Odessa on south Grandview for Burritos and Tamales.

Good Deals
Rosa's Taco Tuesdays - discounted 3 Taco plates.
Texas Roadhouse - Before 6pm M-TH - about $1 discount.
Logan's Roadhouse - All Day M-W either 2 Meals for $15 or 2 Meals/Appetizer/Dessert for $20
Midland Fazoli's - Pizza trio or something like that on Tuesdays (My son's Tuesday place)
Carino's - Family Mondays (haven't tried yet)

New Chains
Saltgrass Steakhouse in Midland (M-F 4-6pm Early Dinner)
My son can hardly wait for Golden Chick to arrive.

EDIT: Some updates on deals

Gerardo's on Big Spring: Great deals an not busy like places on the loop
El Burrito on Big Spring- Filling and spicy
Cancun Grill- Mexican Martini and large menu selection, very different take on Mexican
Love Martinez Bakery & La Mission
Triple Threat- Sometimes smokey but the Fries (can customize toppings) and the Philly Sandwiches are great
Pizzeria Venti (in the shopping center off Midkiff & Wadley)- It is pricey but the food is authentic and salads are amazing
Sushi is lacking but we have it - I just always tell them light on the sauce (Bushido is less busy) and Osaka (they will at least text you when your table is ready
Hooka Cafe (Odessa) is the only middle eastern food around
There is also a great burger place near here
Also there is a soul food/southern restaurant in Odessa I forget the name.
Cork and Pig is always busy but a refreshing for the area
The Whitehouse Meat Market has great Green Chili Patty Melts

Thanks Premid, Tator World is the place we keep forgetting to take my son to.

I assume they can fry up some chicken strips for him.

Anyone tried Jana 615 recently?
Took my wife and kids for Mothers Day a year or 2 ago and it was good European food.

Wish we had a dedicated German food place - I crave some Jaeger Schnitzel.

EDIT: Should be Yana 615 instead of Jana 615.

Went to El Burrito today after reading andrabeth's post. Their green enchiladas ( Thurs & Fri special) were very good. I recommend the place too.

Also went to Murray's to try their chicken salad sandwich. It was okay. Their curly fries weren't bad either.

Where is Jana 615? Never heard of it.

Casa Del Sol (East of Downtown on Illinois) is good. Everyone always gets some soup (I think) that is there. I can't remember, just ask. I am wanting to try more food south of the Tracks. If you have suggestions shoot them my way.

There is a drive up BBQ 'Shed' on Scarbourgh doing East- past super mercado. It is small and white- you walk up.

On Thomason and Wall there is Bob's Better Burgers...wold time walk up order. Cheap and good. Reminds me of the SweetShop in Snyder or Lotaburger in Snyder.

Keep Posting!

Have to agree with most of the posts. My family and I try to make Lori's for breakfast every Saturday. Nothing fancy, just great service and really good food.
Mexican: Best brkfst burritos are El Burrito, tacos at Martinez Bakery. Also love La Mission, Jorge's and Gerardo's.
Best steak, Garlic Press (Special occasions, pricey}. Wall Street, Liugi's, Murray's and Kuo's are some of our favorites too!

I've noticed no one is mentioning the major chain restaurants. I'm glad they are here, but I still like the old midland restaurants best!

No love for Thai House? Great, great food. Big fan of the Red Curry.

Enjoy Cork & Pig a lot. Has a "big city" feel to it, in my opinion. Dip is good, so is the pizza.

Caramba's has the best Mexican food in town, IMO. Also enjoy Dos Compadres quite a bit as well

Yes, those are both great!

I also failed to mention The Bar brunch on Saturdays...Seriously the only meal I will need all day if I eat there.

I wish we had a great place to have Oysters....

Yana615 (West of Downtown Odessa)
615 N Sam Houston Ave, Odessa, TX 79761
(432) 332-4305
European, Eastern European, Italian

A place for lunch and brunch. Expensive, hard to find, times are limited, but we had enjoyed it for a Mothers' Day meal.

Similar to:
Ogi's Restaurant (behind Harrigans)
4555 E University Blvd, Odessa, TX 79762
(432) 362-0300
Someone mentioned it is a bar that serves food, that would be close. I think it is supposed to be like a Russian tea room (that serves food). They serve European food. I think some of the recipes are Bulgarian. Check out the desserts.

My wife like Romie's and a soup they make.
701 S Marienfeld St, Midland, TX 79701
Food was good but VERY crowded at normal mealtimes.

Just saw on FB that Garlic Press is starting their monthly supper club. When I first heard this over the summer I was excited about 'set' events to plan for in Midland. Plus I love food and beverage pairings. Anyway it is a 6-7 course meal but is $140 a setting. I have been to their wine pairing and beer pairing dinners ($75-90 per setting) and they were great. It is just hard for me to swallow $140 in Midland (taking the economy out of the equation). I was talking to my best friend about it this morning. We are wondering what the target audience is (we are 30). I figured 25-45. Just wondering others opinions. I can do alot of EXCELLENT food when I travel for $140...

$140 is easy to spend at fancy places when traveling. Not sure if I'm willing to drop that much in midland. Eesh.

$140 is about a week's worth of eating out for us.
Of course I am also the guy who will be making Chef-Boy-R-Dee's pizzas tonight.

Was in town this past weekend for a High School buddy's wedding. I ate at Chito's Mexican Restaurant in the shopping center by Gold's Gym on the corner of Midland Drive and the Loop. That place was really good! I assume it's fairly new, because it wasn't there the last time I was in town. But I definitely recommend it and will be going back the next time I'm back in the Basin

Chitos is pretty solid. I was at the Ole Miss watch party last season while looking for a place in Midland that weekend. I've gone back to eat there probably a half dozen times. Food isn't the greatest but it's clean and reliable. Big fairly cheap beer too.
