Add my name as another person Centerpoint has pissed off
Came home to a yells tag on our door that said connect gas meter checked, note sayin did maintenance to meter in other, meter installation checked, and told us to call to reschedule. We never scheduled anything with them in the first place.
Go to cook dinner and my gas is off.
It's after hours so only rep I could speak with that the emergency line. She said she would schedule someone out tonight. Gave her my number and gate code. Fast forward an hour and half, get an email saying they were unable to complete the order.
Give Centerpoint emergency another call and they said the tech couldn't enter as it didn't have the code and no one would let him in. Rep said my code and number was in their notes.
Now we have to wait til tomorrow morning to get them to turn my gas on see why they turned it off in the first place.
(This months bill was paid Monday)
I'm not officially advocating this but you can go out to your gas meter and where it comes out of the ground there will probably be a small tab with a wire through it that looks sort of like a padlock. You can clip that wire and remove it. Then, there's like a square head that resembles a bolt-head on a pipe coupling. First, you need to use a pipe wrench and remove that coupling because they'll probably have inserted a small, flat, plastic disc into the pipe to block the flow of gas. Remove that and reattach the coupling. Then you can turn that bolt head and restore the flow of gas. You should hear it start to flow a bit and the meter will spin slowly.
Then you're back in business.
But again, I'm not advocating you do this to circumvent Centerpoint's bureaucratic failings.
