This is a bit different than Beryl.
If Beryl traveled over a good chunk of the Yucatan then it was going to hit Mexico or the border as a weaker storm. But if it stayed north over Yucatan and could re-form/strengthen over gulf then landfall would move north/east… which it unfortunately did.
It sounds like the stronger this one gets the more it will go east. But the big difference is that the initial bullseye is around Houston, not the border or somewhere down the coast. So if this can strengthen more than expected then that will be bad news for TX/LA border and areas directly east. They were never in play with Beryl.

I feel like being in the bullseye before it forms is a good thing. The cone always shifts once the storm forms and the models get an idea of where the eye is. This isn't based on any actual science so much as it's wishful thinking.

I don't get how these models don't account for history when storms track to the East almost every time. At one point Katrina had a bullseye on Houston.
So eone posted a gif of all the cones from a precious storm during our Beryl discussion and it was very interesting to see.

If this holds it validates the prediction that the storm will move East the stronger it gets.

The trajectory of approach with this hurricane will be tough, a small deviation means huge changes in impacts for certain areas. Notice the 18Z euro ensembles - very few are near the NHC track. NOLA might be in for a hurting if it shifts a little more. Some models are showing a strengthening cat 2/3 leading into landfall.
That track would/could put a soaking on the lower Mississippi River watershed

Looks like operators are beginning evacuations in the gulf. We've got guys scattered throughout and they'll be coming in from different vessels/rigs/platforms over the next couple of days.

Dude. It's been a ****show. State Farm took 2 months to finally tell me they aren't covering it, and it's rained it's ass off ever since they told me that. I could have had this ***** fixed 5-6 weeks ago.
