power flashed on and off about 4 times this morning. was on when i left for the office. but, it's just completely ridiculous.

Is this like the thing that was circulating about how you get reimbursed for your lost food? Turns out you would only be eligible if you actually sustained a certain amount of physical damage to your house so it was basically pointless for most people.

the people that are responsible and pay for thousands upon thousands in insurance premiums and deductibles get absolutely ****ed while the people that freeride get gov money. what a system.

Unless you lost thousands, it's not worth filing a claim and paying the deductible.

And for those of us who lost giant trees that didn't actually fall on a structure....still expensive to get trees cut up and hauled away. Insurance barely pays anything to remove downed trees, even if the deductible wasn't already 1-2%.
I thought the food spoilage deal (through insurance) wasn't subject to the deductible?
I hook up the generator so have never had to deal with that claim process. So no first hand experience, but I could have sworn my wife's sister's family did it after the May storm.

I had some shingles dented and some scrapes on my siding from falling limbs. So In my application I selected "minor damage" since "no damage" was not an option.Captain Winky said:

Currently the status for my food claim changed from submitted to "eligible" so I think that means it was approved. Haven't seen a deposit yet. I've been telling friends and family that lost fridge food to file as well.

Well one thing I've learned is it's best to be on the west side of a spinning storm.
After all of this rain, another hurricane making any sort of Houston-area landfall would be a massive pile of suck, even if it is "only", say, Beryl intensity. It wouldn't take a real strong storm to lay down a whole bunch of trees that have been softened up...a major hurricane, ****, trees might be meandering around subdivisions.

Too far out to know. 06Z run on GFS has it turning in to Florida. Euro shows it off east coast. Neither sniffing our area as of yet. High pressure returns next week which is why the rain will stop so that helps us too. Timing is next weekend.
