It is showing we're energized but we're not in Cinco NW.

Centerpoint (unexpectedly) just went live with a new outage map.

Legend for those using cell, seems like it only shows on the desktop version:

I know for a fact that people that show as having power don't have power on that map

My entire street, plus most around me, show energized on that map. None of us have power.

Same. A decent sized section in Norhill Heights show energized. BS.

The devil is in the details. The map is say the circuit is energized, that's it. And it very well could be true, but local conditions on the ground prevent certain local circuits from connecting.

Fact that direcho resulted in 5 days outage is comical enough. That storm was a typical May gully washer in DFW when I was a kid.
Did you see the ass kicking some parts of town got, especially the Heights and Timbergrove? I've been through multiple hurricanes and a lot of other storms in between, and the May storm was the only time in my life I ever felt the need to seek shelter in my hallway.

Direcho exposed red flags around infrastructure/CP in my opinion. Some real changes need to take place down here to address the grid and get more accountability out of CP and local officials. 5 days of no power for a major city due to a squall line is a joke to me after living through F3 tornados devastating homes a few miles where I hunkered down on several occasions.

Beryl gets a pass, it's a hurricane, a large and widespread wind event. But direcho showed how soft a target Houston is with how things are currently managed…
It won't change. Dumb people don't all of a sudden start doing smart things.

CP clearly didn't think it was going to do this much damage. I don't think they had that many lineman setup in surrounding cities, if they did their progress would have been faster the last couple of days.

They know they screwed up which is why they aren't saying much.

I think all this is true but also think the July 4th holiday played into it. Between Thursday and Sunday is when the storm was really tracking more toward Houston. Were key people at Centerpoint really working then? And perhaps more importantly, were backup linemen from across the state busy on vacation?

I'm surprised CP hasn't cited this as an excuse.

Today will be worse. Went to bed with my house at 83 degrees. Fully expect it to get to 90 inside today.

Why there aren't more calls for the CP CEO to be fired is beyond me.

We need real change in that company. We should never accept 90% of the grid going down in a cat 1.

It's not just that. It's how the company operates most of the time. I have to work with them on a daily basis and to get them to do anything is like pulling teeth. We wait months on end to get designs for new services. Months worth of emails go unanswered.

At least they are not as bad as Austin Energy.

We had the same crap with Alicia in August of 1983. No power for nearly a week at our home in Kingwood and brutal heat. Finding ice was the challenge back then, nobody had portable generators, and certainly no internet to ***** on about HL&P.

Got home from the office to find … no power. 77494.

But at least I got some AC and was able to charge one of my power bricks.
Also in 77494 and we're still running off Generator. Cinco/Spring Green area has power but we do not. Hoping that changes soon…
Our power kicked on 5 minutes ago!

Man I hope we're close. Falcon Point is still mostly out.

Recap, 2 panels punched out by the storm. The neighborhood construction contractor came through quick. Nearly done. Prompt service. Fair price.

Alicia was terrible. No power at my house (77079) for 9 days. The hottest and most humid day I remember was the day after Alicia…..my Mom volunteered me to cut (with a chain saw) her friends tree debris and clean their yards.

Hurricane Ike no power for 7 days. First few days were fine because there was an unexpected cool front. When the heat arrived we booked a hotel in San Antonio just to get a change of pace. My son was 5 at the time and my father was staying with us. We treated it as camping

The mental frustration with all of this can become unbearable. Especially with dwindling resources and rising heat temps.

Take some vacation days and get out of town. Go to San Antonio or College Station. Especially if you have a young family. It will do everyone good.

Yeah that didn't strike me as a Northern Mexico type of surname. Seems like the more X's you get in your name, the farther south you come from in Mexico. They seem to run a good business tho.

I was 7 when Alicia hit. I recall my section of the woodlands being out for almost two weeks. I don't know how my parents managed

During Ime we tried to gut it out with an infant and lasted all of 24 hours without power. Couldn't heat baby bottles and our daughter broke out in a heat rash.

Now we have a generator and somewhat comfortable in a couple of rooms. Sure would be nice to have internet so we could get some news

Anyone get any of that storm last night?

It was worse than the hurricane lightning and rain wise.

Can't echo this enough.

We have 5, 3, 19 months, and 2 months at home. Zero chance we were riding this thing out short of having basically a whole home solution installed (we didn't).

We have been at the JW in San Antonio for the last two days doing exactly as you described

Another question, my main electric provider is Entergy but I have gas service mainly for my hot water heater.

I have electricity / power as of early this morning but do I have gas services because that comes from center point?
