IIRC, Ike.
There were definitely boil notices for Houston with Ike.

I lost power for 2 1/2 weeks during Ike, lived off of a generator for a while, wife and little kids stayed with relatives, but I really don't remember city water being an issue.

You forget the multiple days during the Icepocolypse with water?
That's why.
There's no guarantee water service will continue, whether due to a power outage or loss of pressure making undrinkable.
If you're that naive, you should probably move away from the coast.
Not being naive and I get freezes, but has Houston ever lost clean water during the past 30 years over a hurricane / tropical storm? I have been here and can't recall. I get water is cheap, just asking the question.

Drink at your own risk, just dont expect a bunch of sympathy here when your bowels become a petri dish and you are spewing liquid from your butthole for days. All you had to do was fill up a bunch of vessels right now to store perfectly fine water.

I recall Ike being unique in that it was so large it knocked out lines across many areas vs just a centralized section of a city
But it didn't wreck the water supply so much as it wasn't devastating wind speed or catastrophic flooding that take out pumps and on site back generators
I could be mistaken though. 2008 was a long time ago.

Whole dead trees are clearly visible all along Kingwood Drive. Even 2 big dead trees on our local elementary school playground- Willow Creek Elementary. Sometimes I wonder what our government employees do all day…Frok said:
Good news is the derecho probably knocked many of the loose limbs out already.

Some MUD districts had issues.
And maybe I was overly cautious….but I didn't trust the water during Harvey.

Howdy Ags,
Recent graduate here who just moved to Houston for the first time. I haven't experienced a Houston hurricane before. I live in an apartment and not a house. If any fellow ags have some advice for me about how to prepare that would be awesome. Thank yall!
