It's good that school is out. Neighbor ventured out to find some WiFi and gas, and she said traffic is a hot mess on Kuykendahl. And the HEB gas station was a mad house.

She also said you can see trees on power lines in the part of our subdivision that is on the west side of Kuykendahl. We are on a different part of the grid, but given the extent of the damage, are preparing ourselves for another night without power.

I've gotten zero updates from Centerpoint today.

You kind of have to think they won't be as fast to respond to this because it was kind of unexpected whereas in a situation like a hurricane they usually have some lead time for preparation.

Yeah. Centerpoint has been terrible almost the entire 10 years I've lived here, but I can't fault them for this one. They are usually pretty good about sending repair updates via email and text, though, so I'm a little surprised there haven't been any today. They must be overwhelmed.

Centerpoint is just like Marlon Ivy and Associates. Top notch technicians in the field and a giant web of complete losers inside of the phone call center!

We finally got Centerpoint out to our house for the downed tree that took out the power lines in our backyard. Centerpoint guy is convinced it was a tornado. He said he can see a clear path of destruction.

Anyone in your vicinity have a drone to fly? Would be interesting to see.

There were two news helicopters hovering over the area for almost an hour this morning. Surely they have some good pics. But I can't find anything online.

In the Woodlands too-Panther Creek.

Storm started about 8:30 last night until probably 9:30 it kinda calmed down but I've never heard wind come through like that. Lots of branches hit the roof lots of debris out in the yard. After it all calmed down last night I walked around outside saw neighbor with lots of trees down in the street was checking that out and could quickly smell a gas line break and firefighters showed up hour and a half later after I called and tested the levels as low but had been very noticeable . A few homes in my heavily wooded neighborhood got damaged large tree through a roof all the way down to the floor of someone's kitchen about 5-6 houses down.

Pretty much every street you drive through in the Woodlands has what look like a massive hurricane went through . Should be cleaning up for weeks.

This also perfectly describes Comcast. The last tech that came out a couple of weeks ago not only solved my problem but replaced all the cable from the pole to the boxes in my house. Technician gave me his number and said to call him directly if I have any more problems.

In Klein area, power came back on around midnight last night thankfully.

The wind was insane but it reminded me of that storm on the 8th of this month that blew through, we were driving near BW and 249 at the intersection under it and all traffic had to come to a stop for like 10 mins because you couldn't see the car in front of you and the wind was easily at hurricane strength just blowing non stop. I thought I wouldn't see another storm like that for a while.

Also in The Woodlands....Montgomery County was coming thru our neighborhood with large dumptrucks and a large 'claw' picking up debris...large tree limb debris that you could leave out by your curb and taking it off.

I missed them as I was in the back yard trying to get all my large fallen down limbs but one of the workers said he thought they would be back tomorrow.

He also said I had to call the comissioner ( ? depends on where you live I guess) to see about limbs that fell behind my property on county property that could disrupt drainage. I have a drainage ditch behind my house, no neighbors.

It seems like it has been an extremely intense spring as far as thunderstorms are concerned. Out of the norm.

It is cyclical. This is what I remember typical spring and summer being like in the 80s/90s. Huge out of nowhere thunderstorms blowing up.

Yea i wasn't going to start talking about climate change or anything like that haha. I figured it had to do with overall wx patterns like el nino etc. This spring seemed unseasonably cool all the way in to mid June. It was amazing outside much longer than normal this year.

No worries that's not what I was thinking. I assume I have a couple decades on you so just giving my recollection. And yeah I think the Pacific flipped to el Nino this year. Supposed to be wetter though this high pressure sitting over us isn't helping at the moment. It's fuggin hot. Been out all day getting my fences propped up and preparing my anus for the fence company quote.

Yea I have a section of wrought iron fence that has a massive branch through it that is right up to my neighbors driveway and has been sitting there for 2 weeks. I was out of town and the picture my wife sent did not show the extent if the damage. I reckon it is time to go over and meet those neighbors. Wish I had a tractor right about now.

After 26 hours....we finally have power again!!!

Seriously...God bless the linemen and polemen. They were in our backyard for almost 12 hours today working to repair the downed lines and broken pole that our tree took out in last night's storm. They were courteous, professional, gracious, and worked their butts off in brutal heat. It's easy to forget these are men (and a few women) out there in some pretty bad conditions getting the rest of us up and running so we can enjoy our air conditioning and Netflix. Guys we talked to said they'd been on shift since 6 am and weren't supposed to get off until 10 pm. But that they'd likely keep working until 6 am tomorrow.

Neighbor was told by CP that it will likely be late today before we have power. Our substation was hit by lightening. It's been 30+ hours for us.

I have a friend that I've known since the 2nd grade who works for Alabama Power as an electrical engineer. She's spent basically her entire 20+ year career taking crews all over the country to help restore power. She's probably responded to every major disaster/event that's knocked out power since the early 2000s. To say it's their life's work/calling is not an exaggeration.

Linemen make pretty good money dont they? Albeit a lot comes from wild amounts of OT during disasters and a chaotic schedule.

Yup. We are cursed when it comes to power outages.

Neighbor waited on hold with Centerpoint for 90 minutes to just be told this…

There is NO ETA on power return. Timelines are no longer viable. "There are treacherous conditions that have not been assessed." The closest crew is at gosling and rayford

I'm not sure what to believe because Gosling and Rayford don't intersect. They might have meant West Rayford.

They are about to learn the lesson that your neighbor is not responsible for their healthy tree falling on your house.

My In-Laws are off of Cypresswood and are one of about 135 people in their area without power. Sucks but at least they have a portable generator and A/C. I'm afraid they are being pushed down the fix list because there are so few in the outage. I tried to get them to come to my house but their dog and mine don't get along.

The lack of communication is frustrating. I think at this point people would even appreciate a "We have no idea when your power will be back on, so if necessary, you should make alternative arrangements" email.

On the flip side, the number of people beside themselves with worry asking if their cats will "be ok" because it's 80* in their house is not helping the cause.

That's exactly what happened to our tree. Tipped over at the roots. About 55'+ tree. But we were lucky that it fell away from any homes.

This is the pile from just ONE of the branches that fell 2 weeks ago. Several more to go. THEN I can finally mow.

ETA my tree going through the neighbors fence. This branch flew almost as far as a pine branch that nearly took out my bedroom.

Just got mine back too. We were the last because we are farthest from the substation. We spent all day watching everyone else in the neighborhood get power back.
