Can't believe it hasn't been mentioned but Killens STQ is a great "Houston" restaurant. Great steaks, bbq pork belly, and the seafood dishes are top notch.

I will second this. The food is exceptional and in a fairly laid back atmosphere. It is close to my office so we have met out of town folks there for work dinners where it is easy to chat and it isn't a 2-3 hour dinner marathon.
