Haha. I went once on a Friday HH and still spent a pretty chunk of change. Still spent more than I have at V&Ashtxag09 said:Except if he really knew what he was talking about he'd know Uchi happy hour is the tits and definitely makes it a place you can go to more than once a year.Echoes97 said:This guy knows what he's talking about...digging tunnels said:
I'm gonna reiterate Uchi again. If I'm gonna get a free expensive meal, this is where I'm going. You can get a steak anywhere. But unless you're rolling in some serious dough, Uchi is a place you go maybe once a year or two. If you haven't been there, just sit by the chef's table and let them bring random bites out to you (omakase). Theyll give you like 10 different dishes. Everything is absolutely amazing. There's just something unique and different about this place compared to other sushi restaurants
That said, Uchi is absolutely a solid choice.

I've actually wondered why Denver and Colorado food is so mediocre. Even in nice towns like Breckenridge it is not very good. None of the places would survive in Houston.

3 reasons:
1) it's too white up there
2) after smelling weed smoke all day their taste buds are broken
3) the altitude changes taste perception (same thing with airline food)

Uchi isn't a *Houston* restaurant.
Even the margaritas for whatever reason. We went to a place in Scottsdale that was supposed to be known for their margaritas a few years ago and they were like something you'd expect from a Casa Ole or something. I can figure out why certain areas of the country might make better Mexican/Tex-Mex, but margarita quality shouldn't be regional. I have never had a good solid margarita outside of Texas.exp said:Boo Weekley said:In all seriousness, this is probably on par with, if not better, than any Mexican restaurant in Colorado or Arizona. Both states should be embarrassed.Funky Winkerbean said:

Colorado is not a food place at all. It's not even a contest. I am not even joking, take him to the Aquarium and he will very likely be blown away by the food.
That's my serious recommendation, Saltgrass for lunch - Aquarium for dinner. Both superior to what he is used to.
I concur 100% on the Mexican front. The chips and salsa alone are orders of magnitude apart.
