I did some **** talking with my boss in Denver that Houston culinary scene is superior to Denver. While I think it's true, I mostly eat at Taco Bell & am a social embarrassment.

Where can I go to impress him and win this debate? Probably okay to spend $200/person tops.

Good food on a patio that's not 'too' expensive.

Your boss thinks Denver's food scene is superior to Houston? Frankly, I'd report him to his boss because the dude clearly isn't smart enough to be in any sort of management or leadership role.

Well he's the founder and CEO so...

I thought TexAgs knows stuff. Absent any real suggestions, sounds like EADO is in the lead here. Hard to believe.

Your boss is an idiot. Houston's food scene is light years ahead of Denver.

If the $200/per person is just a drink or two then Bludorn is likely the place. Food and atmosphere is top notch.

Don't forget about Pappas Bros if you just want to bludgeon him with great steak.

Another under the radar place is Wild Oats. I loved the food and menu. It may be weird for him being in a farmers market but I thought the food was outstanding and mostly different from the norm.

Another option if he's not had a lot of TexMex is any of the chains like El Tiempo, Pappasitos, Goode Co Cantina, and Ninfas on Navigation. We take them for granted because they're everywhere and we eat it all the time but if you don't have regular access it's damn good food.

In all seriousness, this is probably on par with, if not better, than any Mexican restaurant in Colorado or Arizona. Both states should be embarrassed.

Colorado is not a food place at all. It's not even a contest. I am not even joking, take him to the Aquarium and he will very likely be blown away by the food.

That's my serious recommendation, Saltgrass for lunch - Aquarium for dinner. Both superior to what he is used to.

Lol at getting drawn into an argument about food with your boss. He was just trying to assert his dominance.

There is nothing you can do to change his mind.

You're right but it's all in fun. Just means good free food for me so win win.

Thanks for all the real suggestions

I concur 100% on the Mexican front. The chips and salsa alone are orders of magnitude apart.

Just drive down Bellaire west of S. Rice and randomly hit a bunch of taquerias and all the Asian places from various nations and regions. That alone will blow anything in Denver out of the water and you'll be too full to keep going long before you spend $200 per person.

I've actually wondered why Denver and Colorado food is so mediocre. Even in nice towns like Breckenridge it is not very good. None of the places would survive in Houston.

Houston's food scene is the best for cheap and mid-price food. The coasts have us beat on the high end, crazy stuff. If go somewhere more classic Houston and homegrown. Hugo's is a good option, I think.

I've had better at Vic and Anthony's, Taste of Texas, Killen's, and B&B Butchers. I've only tried Pappas Brothers once and thought it was overrated. Maybe I had a bad experience but I was not impressed.

Weird thread.

OP wants to impress boss which was always designed to be a fail for the junior employee.

Thread devolved into typical Texags flexing on who knows the better spots and you're dumb if you don't agree in breakneck speed.

Thankfully someone rightly posted a titty bar suggestion which is basically the equivalent of saying "the only winning move is to not play."

All in one page. Dammit now I feel like this is a stat monitor repairman post.
