Was reading the Google reviews of Georgia James and came across this pic. I'm not sure why someone would go there and order a burger, but $26 for that? Oof.

I dont particularly consider tha the middle of nowhere, but to each his own. Doesnt have the downtown Houston vibe, but also doesnt have the traffic.
Neither of which has any bearing on how good the food is.
Kemah Steak Co is another option, but it int on par with Pappas or Killens.
If you're heading as far as Kemah whats a few more minutes to get down to #13 in galveston.

She must've grown up going to Rodeo Houston, a real "country" girl. Still wears Rocky Mountains? Not sure they are acceptable at Pappas.
No, she's not from Houston. She grew up going to the SA rodeo when it was at the Freeman but even that is an 1.5 hour drive from her house. She's from south Texas. Up until 2-3 years ago, Houston went many years without a rodeo. If it's not PRCA, it's not a rodeo. I know they lost their affiliation for quite sometime (10 years maybe?). Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Steak night at Little Woodrows EDO... good ole rubber steak and some over baked potatoes with plenty of butter and sour cream... plenty of beer and eye candy!
Just make sure you check out the pictures of the restaurant. You want to make sure they have floor length table clothes so that Steak and BJ night is guaranteed to be complete.

For example, at pappas their 14 oz dry aged (in house) ny strip is $57. At Georgia James, a wet aged strip is $95. When we went we ordered a porterhouse and it was also cooked completely uneven with the filet being rare and the strip being medium well. Pretty sure Chris shepherd just adds $50 to every menu item for his name and because his can.
Pappas is the benchmark in houston, imo.
Eta: someone above mentioned Doris metropolitan. It's also really good for a different type of steakhouse.

I know it can, I've been somewhere we've ran a $20k tab as well, but $20k is a hell of a lot different than $100k. And, as I edited my previous post to say, most people buying shots that could ever get a tab up to $100k aren't worried about it nor are they posting vague internet stories about how they were taken advantage of. I'll never be taken advantage of to the tune of $100k because I'll damn sure never put myself in that situation.

pappa's still pretty awesome in my book, and definitely the most extensive wine list in the city for Bordeaux and Napa, and Doris Metropolitan is unique in comparison to most mentioned and has the best bread service in the city to go along with the outstanding steaks.

I didn't mean to say she was an expert. I just meant that she knows more than the average person walking into a steakhouse. I'm sure there are many on this board that knows more than her which is why I came here in the first place.
