I doubt Maya or any local news outlet had to make a call to make his employer aware. It was all over all the local news outlets and probably starting to go national. All it really took was a customer going straight to upper management. Don't shoot the messenger

What does this dumb broad think he can be sued for? Oh and as I said, they would love to ruin anything and everything about this man. If his life isn't left in complete shambles after this they will never be happy. This racist Texas #CyFair school board member just said that more Black teachers leads to worse student outcomes.

She is no doubt posting that from a patio at a restaurant along Upper Kirby while having bottomless mimosas with her white girlfriends who are posting on FB about how much they support their BIPOC friends (who they are friends with on FB, but they have never stepped inside each other's homes).

And they probably shout diversity and equality yet send their own kids to a private school or use the magnet program to go where they want.
I know someone in the heights and they made their Instagram profile an all black picture and saying something heart warming like I'll never understand the struggle you go through I'll do my best. Meanwhile their last post was ranting about hisd because they couldn't get their daughter into the magnet school they wanted because their zoned school apparently wasn't good enough for her. They also had a sign in their front yard to stop whatever affordable housing they are trying to build in the west part of the heights.
They really don't see the hypocrisy in all this. It's easy to virtue signal behind a keyboard. Meanwhile this guy they got fired is actually doing something and putting his time and effort into helping kids.

What I said earlier- having more minority teachers has zero impact on educational outcomes for minority students.

My company gives a "diversity score" for a team composition, and oddly enough it rates 100% if the team is a combination of women / minorities. You would think having a representative population of white males in the mix would be required for the team to be considered diverse, but no. The answer is always to hire more minorities and women, regardless of the percentage of population they make up.

Thats why like I said in a previous post that it seems most politicians who aren't career politicians seem to be self-employed or have other means of guaranteed income. If you are relying on an employer for income, you run the risk of saying something that will piss off or even worse, affect your employer and their bottom line. You may consider it cancel culture, but I'm guessing Splunk did not want to be associated with his comments whether its the point he was trying to make or the point he accidently implied. Seeing how he isn't in a union, Splunk has every right to fire their employee for any comment they make at anytime, and thats true for the vast majority of us who work for someone else.YellAg2004 said:cajunaggie08 said:

Holding an elected official accountable is voting them out, recalling them, and/or impeaching them. Hell, protest at every meeting if you want.
But the cancel culture of going after someone's job that is completely unrelated to his elected position is BS, especially when anyone with two brain cells to rub together could understand the point he was trying to make, regardless of how poor of a job he did making that point.

I believe I have said it before that I understand the argument he was trying to make. I also understand that is not what he wound up saying. Accident or not, he was on record as a public official. He is also in a customer-centric job seeing how he works in sales. I don't know how any company would expect to keep him on-board after that botched delivery and the negative publicity that followed. Perhaps his employer could have kept him on board tried to let it blow over. Perhaps he wasn't valued enough to try. Or it just is a case of his values not lining up with his bosses' values. Whether we like it or not, we are a rep of our employer pretty much 24/7.Some Junkie Cosmonaut said:cajunaggie08 said:aww cmon, i wouldnt say his sharing of the news was gleeful. Seriously???
The fact that this is your response tells me you're a part of the problem. What did he need to be held accountable for? If you would have said "I can understand his argument but he did a poor job of articulating it" we would absolutely agree. Like adults can do. However, a man losing his job to cancel culture (after the narrative was purposefully completely twisted) is gross. If you can't understand then we really don't have anything to discuss.
Also...schmendeler's posting history speaks for itself so you can spare me in regards to that specific poster.
