Did you just source a online click bait poll where I could vote 1,000 times if I wanted? Nice sourcing.

I am aware that the poll had potential for flaws. It was more of a token offering to the public to show that public opinion was part of the decision making to issue the order in FB. I feel he was going to issue it no matter what.

Despite the vocal objections of many on this message board, each and every local based online poll i have seen shows that a very large majority favor some kind of mask order be put in place. Yes each poll is ripe for inaccuracy. But the general percentage has been about the same where roughly 70-80% favor it. Perhaps the echo chamber that exists on Texags isn't an accurate representation of the feeling of the general public.

So, the bar has moved from science to a local news website where I can vote 1,000 times.

Your kid can be "player of the week" on their website if you and your mom vote a couple of thousand times each too.

Pretty weird since I work and live in FBC and definitely haven't seen anywhere close to 70% of people out in public businesses wearing masks

Agreed...people certainly didn't seem to care yesterday when I went in to various stores in FBC without a mask

Not weird. Ask someone if there should be a mask policy. "Yes, got to do it for the common good." Ask them if they should wear a mask. "No, they are hot and uncomfortable." If everyone else does it, then I don't have to.

I'm done with the mask argument, I made my position clear several times on this thread and others, it won't change and I'm not going to try and change anyone else's.

However citing online polls, admitting that they are flawed (breaking news), then doubling down on their use or relevance gives me a good laugh. Thanks.

Also "TexAgs Echo chamber"? It's not even an echo chamber on this thread, much less entire site. How many dumb arguments with multiple people have we had about masks on this thread alone? I'm also willing to guess (at least for me), that those who don't particularly care for any mask orders, happen to also not particularly care about what a "very large majority" seem to think, even if it was actually true (based on anything besides open, online polls).

I live in FBC too and its been about 50% out wearing masks. There have been times I am the only one in a group of 10 who wore a mask. There have been times where almost everyone had one on. I wouldnt be surprised that a number of the people who vote for mandated mask coverings still dont go out. There is also a percentage that would wear masks but dont because they dont want to be the only one to do it.

I was in Columbus 2 weeks ago and had to run into walmart and was shocked to see nearly 90% of the people there wearing masks. The only people who werent were a group of college kids from UH who were on their way to go tubing.

Coupled with people starting to go back to the doctor for issues that they had been avoiding.

And people who've gone back to work getting comfortable and lax at the office.

I gave you an example of such. I have seen people on Facebook offering alcohol and food and having a voting party For their kid to get an online award. Vanity is real.

In no way was that poll limited or targeted to that geographic area. Anyone can vote.

Get real. Nobody sits on a news website and votes 1000 times, except aparrently you. The Fort Bend demographics with a large population of expats from countries in Europe and Asia make those poll results perfectly reasonable.
Someone has never visited the premium board where's there's a poll to be won and scripts are designed to literally vote multiple times, 24/7 until it closes.

I know it can happen, but it's absurd to suggest that's what happened here on a pointless poll that offers no reward for winning with only 17k votes.

People come up with the stupidest ways to justify and defend their beliefs at all costs, even when presented with objective data that tells them they're wrong (I'm NOT saying this poll is objective data).
That's not what you said initially.

They do, and for a variety of reasons.

As far as being pointless, online polls (this one and many others I'm sure) are a perfect way for people who think masks should be mandatory to influence the perception of public opinion. They're often times easy to manipulate and widely viewed by their intended audiences on local websites and social media pages.

The guy who posted the chart literally did so with the statement "He's (the county judge) just giving the people what they want". If you can make politicians believe that's "what you want", it's not so pointless.

That's HI-larious, considering Cuomo was one of the ones doing the loudest b-tching whenever Abbott did it earlier. What a loser.

Honestly, who the hell would want to go to NY, NJ, or CT during normal times? Let alone when all their **** is closed or on fire.

NY & CT were great places to go before all of this. There are a ton of fun things to do & see in NYC.

NYC is a fun place to visit. My son and I had a great time on our trip a few years ago, and I'd like to go back (not anytime soon, though).

But after a week, I was tired of walking and/or taking the subway everywhere, and I was ready to get home and wash everything that I'd worn (my coat smelled awful).
