COVID ruins my 2020 again. Its sounding like I'm going to have to sit in a hotel room in japan for 3 weeks in quarantine before i can join my ship. From what I have heard I'm not allowed to leave the room AT ALL and whatever food they are delivering is what I get. Im going to be so miserable.

That sucks. My sister and BIL moved to Georgia (the country) last month and had to quarantine for two weeks when they got there. My BIL is rehabbing from an Achilles tear and he'd walk a mile or two a day just from the front of the room to the window and back. My sister tried to do CrossFit as best she could in their little room.

They were at least eventually able to order soon food instead of whatever prison food showed up. No alcohol though.

F that. That's imprisonment.

Honestly looking at this is depressing when you consider Hidalgo's covid scale o danger. ICU beds, as low as they are, are over 10%, so still in level 2, orange, of her scale. I swear a normal flu season wouldn't even be in the green of her dumb ass scale.

My neighbor has been working a project in Trinidad. Every time he goes he has to spend 2 weeks quarantined in a hotel before flying out and then 2 weeks again before coming home. What used to be a 3 weeks on and 3 weeks off is now 2 weeks home and 6 weeks out (2 quarantine, 2 working, 2 quarantine)

HISD just announced all teachers will be in person in October.

Completely putting aside the virus as a concern - how are they accomplishing this and following their own rules?

Same amount of teachers but classrooms can only house 1/2 the students per their protocol so they have to use every room for students. Some students HAVE to be online to accomplish this. If some teachers are assigned to online learning then who manages the classrooms they would have led?

If all the rooms have kids then where are the online teachers going to work from, a bunch of tables in the gym - now your student's already mediocre online experience includes a call center vibe in the background.

Teachers addressing both at the same time sounds like diminished experience for both.

Throwing the virus back into consideration, why invite an extra 30 teachers into the building if they are going to jump on a laptop to teach kids at home. This is sabotaging the chances at keeping in person classes going.

Anyone hear of a call for mobilization of all substitute teachers? HISD making a play at getting some office oriented space so they can have online teachers in office without bringing them to the schools?

Seems like HISD bowing to conflicting outside pressure is going to ruin chances at a decent fall semester.
