Ha it hasn't been that bad honestly and I take enough breaks. Lots of water and I have the window and door open creating a breeze. People have survived thousands of years without AC, I will be fine. Plus, I have spent several months straight working on the decks of ships in the middle east.

For real. Took 3+ weeks from after I got my inspection and paid for my registration to get the sticker last month.

I enjoy this thread! Thought I would share this. My dad got this 1943 Aircrew watch for my nephew's graduation. It runs, but not great. It is currently in London getting refurbished at the Vintage Watch Room. Those guys back then must have been tiny, the band doesn't even go around my wrist.

I read somewhere recently that the average GI in WW2 weighed like 150 lbs.

Look at old WW2 Airborne photos and the dudes are string beans.
Compared to today's common soldier where they want to hit the gym a lot and cardio only as required.
The new Army Combat Fitness Test is comprised of:
Dead Lift
Medicine Ball Throw
Sprint Drag Carry
Hand Release Push-Ups
Plank
2-Mile Run
Compared to the old Army Physical Fitness Test: 2 mins of push ups, sit ups and 2 mile run.

That's another discussion. Depends on the political climate and time of war needs. During the surge, they were letting in anyone. I turned down 40k to enlist because my dad said I should go to college

I read where Jimmy Stewart wanted to be a combat pilot and tried to become an officer, but, although he was 6'3", he weighed 138 pounds, a few pounds light to get a commission, so he enlisted. (He already had a college degree and a pilot's license, and he quickly was made an officer when war broke out.)

Based on the responses from the recruiters I talked to last week, not right now. They are hurting for numbers but still maintaining requirements to join and enforcing disqualifying issues.
