welp my CW Trident is held up at customs. I filled out the form, but they're pushing back on the ballpark guesses I applied to the movement, case and strap. Anyone had these issues before?
This is something Christopher Ward should be handling for you. Email them.
That sucks. I had no issues at all. I wasn't even contacted until DHL was delivering it.
Speaking of held up, I ordered a strap from The Strap Tailor that has been stuck at LHR for a week with no timeline for when it will make it through Royal Mail export control.

well that was the ticket -- it was a DHL issue. CW (or any shipper sounds like) sends the value breakdown sheet along with the package, so DHL just overlooked it, which isn't shocking at all. Anyways, the CW customer service is more than legit, so that's good to know. Saying should clear within 48 hours.

How many people use really ANY of the complications on watches outside of day/date/2nd hour hand? None of them really "make much sense" in today's world. Its a unique complication that sets the watch apart from others, while showing off craftsmanship. At least thats what it is to me.

I'm just impressed with the mechanics and history, complexity, etc., but that's as far as my caring goes for the data displayed. It's a fashion piece, a collectible, a piece of art on the wrist. If I had a lunar watch, I would use that though.
If I need true function, I'll be wearing my Garmin for golf, hiking, skiing, trail running, altitude, heart rate, steps, etc.

I paid an extra GBP10 for expedited shipment and think it was 4 days from CW. Went very smoothly with DHL.

I would imagine are fairly commonly used. To be honest I couldn't tell you what other complications there are. Maybe some flying specific functions for pilots or pressure functions for divers?
This seems more like the open back to see the movement than it does anything useful.

Welp, I got hit for $80 in duties on the CW watch. No one else got dinged did they to that extent?

Not sure. First timer on the import watch front…guessing maybe the 2nd strap put it over
I didn't but maybe my choice was too cheap to be beyond any threshold.
If anybody is bored and wants to listen to what essentially functions as a 30 minute audiobook on a luxury watch "fiasco", check this out.
I'd give the plot a 5.5/10, but 9.5/10 for narration. I enjoyed listening to it while doing some cleaning around the house.
