Only 13,000? That's not even half way to challenger deep. Why bother?
Need deeper? Get the Rolex Deepsea Challenge SeaDweller.

Only 30mm thick and it has been to Challenger Deep.

What do you guys pay for a "normal" maintenance procedure?

I've got a 1950's era, not valuable, automatic that stopped. One shop guy told me its a great movement and one used in higher end pieces, but he wanted $250 to get it cleaned up. I'm waiting on repair shop #2's quote as just can't see it's worth $250 to clean.

RGM watches told me they would service antiques. No idea for cost but I would definitely trust them with it. They're not local though.

you should give this guy a shot. He's a little kooky but he has the most fair pricing in town. Changes watch batteries that Cartier and Bulgari want $100+ for, for $10, while you wait.

He replaced the crown on my Seamaster for around $40 I think.

Also looking for service rec. My Tag Carrera Chrono isn't keeping time.

Hal Martins wanted around $500 for maintenance.

Mr. K is awesome as long as you've got a month to wait.

yeah...he isn't quick, but it's just him in there. I think he only took three weeks on my last one.

If the price is tolerable, I'd wait as I'm in no hurry.

Memorial Fine Watches just quoted $160. Now wondering about Mr. K. How long does it take him to give an estimate?

Thanks. This place is within walking distance of my house. Didn't know it was there.

Good to know on some places for maintenance around town. Have had a few of mine for 4-5 years now so probably need to take them in soon.

Any recommendations on pressure testing around the Kingwood/Humble area? Wife and I are going on vacation in a couple of months and want to have my sub pressure tested before going since I'll be spending copious amounts of time in the water with a drink in my hand.

Considering I had 1 watch ruined because of water from splashing around in a pool, I'd like to take a little precaution with a 10 year old Rolex.

Maybe.....don't take your Rolex to a pool on vacation?

Why would you not want to wear your watch by the pool or on vacation? As long as your not banging it on things then it should handle swimming in a pool just fine. Especially all you drive watch lovers.

I'm a watch guy, so I wear a watch 95% of the time I'm awake. I also spend a lot of time during the summer in the water, which is probably why I love dive watches. Every watch I have has been in water (fresh and salt), and I will continue to wear them when I'm swimming. I'd just like to take a little precaution before hand seeing how the watch is now 10 years old.

I don't wear watches to impress people. I wear them because I like them. Truth be told, I'll probably end up taking my Seiko Monster on a Isofrane with me as well so I can change it up throughout the week.

just messing with you. I definitely agree with the idea of wearing it if you bought it. it doesn't do anyone any good sitting in a drawer.

Yep. I wouldn't worry about my G-Shock or Seiko, because if they get water in them, I'll just throw it in the gutta and go buy anotha.

I had a swatch that was much thinner than that.

Really digging that Tudor. Also happy the DJ41 now has a silver dial and they're offering it in SS. Ultimately, a SS/WG DJ41 with a white dial (hopefully ext year) will make its way to my wrist, though the silver is tempting.

Was watching central intelligence (movie with the rock) last night and the rock's character had this watch. I thought it looked sharp. What's the thought on Hamilton?

Hamiltons are nice watches. They were an American brand years ago and I think they've been bought out, but still produce nice time pieces for a reasonable price. My favorite is the Field Khaki 40mm.
