For less than $1,000 if you're looking for a statement watch I would check out the following divers (I like divers for everyday lux "work" watches because they have the classic look, and they're very sturdy)

Alpina 4 GMT or chrono (can be had grey market for just under $1,000)




Longines Hydroconquest (easily under 1,000)



Tag GMT Calibre 7 (probably your best bet) - new just over 1,000; lightly pre-owned under 1,000



Oris Aquis 43mm ceramic diver (probably my favorite)

Here is another option. Not under 1K, but it comes in at 1550. It could be had for less used.

This one might work. Granted not as good looking as others:

Just being honest with you on that one; the Tag Formula 1 is seen as the worst of the Tag offering; and won't get you the wrist presence bang for the buck. It's also a quartz watch; and while there's nothing wrong with that; you won't get the smooth sweep of the seconds hand that most people want in a "lux watch"

Yep. I typically wear my date just with suits, but that would be a good watch for more formal days. Although, the orange might be to much. Or maybe a nice touch. need to see in person.

Is it on a croc strap?


EDIT: Never mind. Just looked it up and saw it was on a Horween Cordovan Strap. Humana Humana humana.

Nomos is a fantastic watch maker. They are hands down the best bang for your buck if you care about the in house movement over the name recognition.

got the seiko astron in this morning. Absolutely beautiful, i thought it might have clashes with my shirt but it looks great, very versatile.

You have to admit that the functionality of that watch is impressive.

Agreed. From a time and date perspective, that watch is pretty neat, but I still prefer simple dials. Take the Daytonas for example. Lot's of people fall over themselves for them, but they are too busy for me.

Anyone find any leather natos that they like? I wear a nato pretty much every day. I have one ****ty leather strap I picked up at jcrew years ago that is worthless, but I've never really seen anything that I like better.
