Quite a few if you count his mentoring of Biles, Lyles, and Curry (which he did).

After a quick search, looks like he used to do sports radio in Houston and got fired recently. Also looks like he used to be on ESPN Radio in Dallas from 2010-2016.

One of the comments after he got fired in Houston:

"No big loss. If you told an AI to generate a sports talk radio host, he's pretty much what it would come up with."

Seems to fit right in with the Ticket bench these days.

Landry was also on The Dumb Zone for a half hour or so in October 2023

Don't fret - from his twitter post:

Quote:

No plans to do radio full-time anytime soon, PUMPED to be covering the Texans home in Houston and dominating the digital, but it's going to be awesome to play on an elite team like this for a legendary PD like Cat. Really excited. Won't disappoint.

Looks like the little ticket is pulling in the big guns.

Tshirt OU fan talking with tshirt tu fan about disliking SEC fans, and how the conference was nothing without Saban. What a compelling segment. Alabama, Florida, and Tennessee, among others, would disagree.

Who was talking to who? I am shocked the ticket had this convo on the air, not. The college football knowledge in terms of history and overall knowledge of today is embarrassing considering it is a sports station.

Corby's lack of perspective on college football is par the course. He and Junior live in this bubble where OU has been the premier program and everyone else has always sucked no matter who they are.

Natties since Saban got to LSU (2000)

B12:
OU - 1
tu - 1

SEC:
Bama - 6
UGA - 2
UF - 2
LSU - 3
Auburn - 1
UT - 1

I think all of Bama's and 1 of LSU's is Saban. So merely 8 for the non-Saban SEC versus a dominant 2 from the Big-12, the gold standard of CFB.

Might need to revisit the Tenn natty. Thought that was '98. But the numbers are overwhelming, nonetheless. The people who claim it is Bama and the dwarves have no clue what they are talking about.

I didn't hear the segment, but from the initial post, I think you are misunderstanding what they were saying. They were saying that the SEC sucked before Saban got there. As in he made Alabama better and the whole conference better. So they were saying that pre-2000 the SEC was not that good. Surely they would agree that the SEC has been dominant since 2000.

But pre-Saban was 25 years ago. So it's a very weird point to make. Who cares what the SEC was like prior to 2000?

Edit to Add: or maybe I misread the initial post, and they were actually saying that the SEC was bad if you exclude Alabama. If that's what they were saying, that's ridiculous.

Bama, Florida, and UT all won natties in the 1990s. The SEC wasn't what it is now, but it didn't suck. Corby's point is that it sucked and was nothing. Not something reasonable like "saban inspired another level", but classic Corby hyperbole that it was ass.

And MM agreed with him.

They both anchored in Auburn being left out in 2004 as the reason the SEC was nothing before Saban, which is odd on its own since Saban won the title at LSU the year before. But so did UT few years before that and Florida a few years before that and Bama a few years before that.

Those two and Junior are like most people regardless of age; they pretend college football didn't exist prior to 2000 for some reason. It is difficult to talk to people like that. Then there is George who hasn't watched much college football since the SWC broke up. Weird dichotomy on that station regarding college football.

I'm going to ask the obvious (dumb) question. You know what you're going to get from the ticket regarding football talk. It's eye-rollingly laughable outside of Sturm. Why listen?

For me I want to hear if they actually have anything new to say. It is 2024, access to info is everywhere. I get it, a tiger doesnt change his stripes but I guess I am interested to see if there is a new take because one of them took the time away from cycling on brokeback mountain or eating gummies at a concert to get some new facts. Junior did a 180 on Deion which is unexpected so it is possible.

Speaking for myself, this was the one segment I listened to all day. Heard it when grabbing lunch. I stayed with it because it was like watching a train wreck. I usually listen to Muse on the way to work, will usually Spotify if I go somewhere at lunch because middays are awful now, but I do like Bob so I'll switch back for the drive home if it's a segment I'm interested in. But the train wreck factor got me on this one

Old joke from back in the glory days of the hardline. Any time they hid something from the others, Greggo called it non disclosure. Hence why the tell all book they released was called "Full Disclosure."
