Beating a dead horse by me.... QB's are too valuable not to take a flyer on this guy. My NFL team would probably carry at least 3 maybe 4 QB's on the regular roster and hire a QB only coach to work with the backups and PS QB's. Especially if you don't have a top 8 QB.. It is a pretty inexplicable move though. Dak isn't going anywhere and Cooper Rush just got guaranteed money as a serviceable backup, so he's not going anywhere either. Lance isn't improving his trade stock at all as a third stringer and a 4th round pick is a valuable asset. If Dak and Rush somehow both get hurt, Lance isn't good enough to salvage the season. It truly doesn't make sense.
If you think Trey Lance has a higher upside, why wouldn't you grab him? It's the same reason 5-6 other teams were trying to as well (eg. Buffalo, who has their QB position set). Maybe he shows something and you use him as trade bait. Maybe he becomes a solid #2 that you can rely on (we've complained about not having this for years).
Or, maybe you waste a 4th round pick. It's a minimal risk, with potential upside.
But all this angst, analyzing the 3rd string QB spot is silly. This is what a team should be doing, across their entire roster...trying to improve their depth.

I found it fascinating that Bob Sturm wasn't on the panel. I wonder if it was a requirement for Tim Cowlishaw to participate that Bob couldn't be on. There were a couple of occasions last year where Bob made Cowlishaw sound like a clown.

I didn't know that. Well damn…its like part of my childhood just died. I feel like anyone who grew up in this area in the 80s had to endure a back-and-forth between KLUV and WBAP as a kid while in the car with their folks.
