Corby had an opinion...people can have theirs, and it's ok to discuss them.
I just think it's ironic. Corby has a long running segment where he makes fun of formulaic country music. It's a hilarious bit. But then this guy goes viral with a unique/original song, which resonates with a lot of people across the country and he dogs it too.
The industry plant angle is also pretty silly, seeing as how it's a little conspiracy theorist, and pretty uneducated and ignorant (if you've followed this guys story at all)...but those are the type of people Corby routinely imitates/mocks if they disagree with his opinion.
Turnabout is fair play. If you're gonna dish out some ribbing, gotta take it too. Doesn't mean it's a big deal...just a little tone deaf

Big news. You could tell he wasn't happy and he definitely seemed extra snarky towards Matt all the time. He's a great producer and bit contributor, but definitely not host material IMO.

Agreed. Probably my favorite producer of all time (sirois was better but he was more like a host). And I agree that he's not host material, although I think he'd probably be better than mino and Sean once he got some reps under his belt. So maybe he is host material these days.
The ticket sucks. There I said it. Even the musers aren't as fun without the other shows being the same.

i heard a couple minutes with gordon on with donovan and mat. gordo talked over mat and acted like he wasn't there. its like they've already decided his 90 day review or whatever the radio equivalent is
Between The Ticket and The Freak we've now ended up with two spare stations, even if the Dumb Zone joins The Freak. Need a PGA/LIV-type merger to get things back to where they were.

I'm guessing the station pretty much runs on nostalgia at this point because with literally endless listening entertainment options you've got a large portion of posters on this thread listening in daily to Mino and whatever other spare they teamed him up with. I can think of no other reason to subject yourself to that.
Just listened to the segment. Entertaining and pretty tame compared to many of the fun with country music segments.

on the blake jones departure....more terrible mismanagement. probably lost their best producer (arguably, next to fernando). and fernando is gone as soon as the musers are; maybe sooner
what baffles me the most throughout this is putting monty in a producer chair. on the one hand, he's too fat and mobility impaired to do things like go to oxnard. but, he's head and shoulders above mino and sean bass in terms of being on air. so then dan bennett gets a win because he has a host-like person on a producer budget.

I put Monty over Matt. I'm in the Matt is terrible camp.
Cumulus, as a proxy for the rest of terrestrial radio, is dying. At this point they only care about drive time because that's what brings in the dollars. Producers and board ops are replaceable in corporate's eyes, and they're the ones telling DB and Cat to cut back.
The Oliver Anthony stuff is such a Rorschach test for the brain-dead on both sides of the political divide. 48 hours after his work became popular on streaming sites, I found multiple "Right Wing Watch" twitter accounts declaring him a "white supremacist" simply because right wing accounts like Jack Posobiec (an idiot in his own right) were pumping him and his music. And of course, that led to right wing listeners feeling obligated to play goalie for Oliver Anthony because left wing accounts hated him so much.
It's all very predictable and tedious and yeah, it's not surprise that a simpleton like Corby immediately read his cues. The whole affair just goes to show that none of these people (left or right) have any sort of real virtues. (Truthfully, if you read his lyrics, it's the same anti-establishment folk theme we've seen many times before from predominantly left-wing musicians.) They've just taken college sport "t-shirt fan" logic and applied it to anything remotely political.
I mean, his music is...okay? He has a great voice but his lyrics are pretty mundane. What's really fascinating is that THIS nondescript guy has become such a flashpoint.
