Paris ISD changed the dress code for school to require a mask, because the Guv'nah aint got control over that!

Dress code? Now, that plays completely into the, "It's about control" argument. Nice choice.
I love this because before covid, our RISD school principal specifically stated to parents that students weren't allowed to wear hoodies with the hoods up because they wanted to see the faces of the kids and clearly know who was in their school at all times, for security and safety purposes. (They also reneged on no cell phones in classrooms and no backpacks.) While I like the flexibility it just illuminates to the students the standards are arbitrary and can change for no clear reason.Old Buffalo said:

Well of course not! Firearms are specifically addressed in state laws prohibiting the...oh, wait...Sims said:
So could a superintendent, if he or she were so inclined, add a sidearm to the teachers' expected dress code? For protection, obviously.

Without masks, we are playing russian roulette with our children's lives!! - actual quote from the old person cesspool known as NextDoor.planoaggie123 said:I Have Spoken said:

I know this is an RISD thread but it's relevant.
Plano is having an Emergency Board Meeting on August 23 at 8AM. All about masks. Fully expect a mask mandate. Wife and I likely both to attend. This will never end.
Which, if you believe masks work, is a day late and a dollar short.planoaggie123 said:

Keep fighting!
Agree. Unless they go full stupid on decisions we plan to "stay and fight" for this year and rethink for next year. Wife would likely have to work to put both kids in private so it would be a big decision.SoupNazi2001 said:planoaggie123 said:
Wife and I are fairly well resigned to the fact. Looks likely to be a 4/3 vote in favor.
Just can't sit back and be silent about it anymore even if doesn't impact short term.
I agree you have to speak up. It's just frustrating as hell. It's getting to where you have to move to a place like Tyler or go to a non catholic Christian school to get away from the Covid crazies.

Now they are spending our money to fight for this crap in court.
Hopefully this at least creates the avenue for them to be specifically struck down.
