We just Saw The Aggies Dominate the Bengals
You're on fire the past two weeks. Well done, once again.
At the risk of Talkin’ Out The Side of Your Neck...
But avoiding any vulgarities that come along with it...
We just Saw The Aggies Dominate the Bengals in Baton Rouge over the weekend, and as a result, Texas A&M’s ascent of the college baseball world continues.
Michael Earley & Co. are now ranked No. 7 in the latest D1Baseball rankings.
A&M’s latest boost comes after the Maroon & White were unfazed by Alex Box Stadium and swept the scuffling LSU Tigers with a 10-4 win on Friday, followed by 7-2 and 5-2 victories on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
It marks the first time A&M has swept LSU in 48 years and the first time the Tigers have been swept by anybody inside their home ballpark since 2022.
“That’s cool. Definitely cool for the fan base,” Earley said postgame on Sunday. “I wasn’t alive in 1978. Just an awesome win. That was gritty. … Pitching was awesome. Defense was awesome. We scored situationally when we needed to score.
“Overall, great weekend. A lot of team wins.”
For a club that’s led by its offense, A&M’s pitching staff was the tale of the series.
The likes of Shane Sdao, Gavin Lyons, Ethan Darden, Weston Moss and Clayton Freshcorn kept the Tiger roars to a minimum, but the best of the bunch was Aiden Sims and his seven-inning quality start in Saturday’s triumph.
Offensively, Gavin Grahovac set the tone atop the order, going 6-for-16 with two home runs on the weekend. With a pair of hits in each win, the Aggie first baseman stretched his hitting streak to 13 games, including six consecutive multi-hit games.
Then, of course, you cannot gloss over Jorian Wilson’s two-homer night on Friday or Chris Hacopian’s four-hit series that featured a two-run bomb, even after taking 93 mph to the face in the opener.
“Any win is a great win,” Wilson said Friday. “We’re coming for a regional at home, so we want to win ballgames, and we’re hungry.”
That hunger is building an impressive hosting resume.
By now, you’re aware that A&M has won four straight SEC series and 11 of its last 12 conference games. At 12-5, A&M is breathing down the neck of Georgia for the top spot in the league.
It’s no longer a surge, but if the Aggies stay this hot vs. the likes of Florida, Auburn, Ole Miss and Mississippi State to close the year, it might make the 12th Man sing...
“Heyyyy ohhhhhhh...”
