im going to be shocked if he ends up saving more than 10 mins on his drive by living in ft worth. ..

ft worth is a great town, but if this guy is young and single than there is no argument over uptown

I think you are overrating the amount of "against traffic" the Uptown to Westlake commute is. I like in Uptown and drive to Las Colinas every day for work. Literally about 2/3s this guys exact hypothetical drive. There is definitely traffic. In the mornings it isn't terrible. In the evenings it definitely can be.

It takes right at 25 min in the morning to get from my apt on McKinney to 114 & George Bush. I assume he can count on atleast an extra 15 min in the morning to get to Westlake. In the evenings, it fluctuates anywhere between 25 min and close to an hr to get back to Uptown, depending on how much 35 decides to suck that day. With the construction/airport traffic, I think he could count on an extra 20-30 min daily. So we're talking 40-50 min in the morning and 45-80 min in the evening. I love living in Uptown, but that drive every day would wear me out.

Addison isn't bad, but I'd take Uptown over it every day. More & broader restaurant and bar selection, and the bars are non-smoking in Uptown, but not Addison.

I concur. I live in Grapevine and my wife used to work in Roanoke. If she had to work late (for a teacher) her traffic back to Grapevine on 114 wasn't great. Even with the extra work on 114 in the past few years it can still be hairy during peak times.

As I've suggested before, if you are that concerned over where you live I suggest trying out the commutes during the same times you would do it.

Saved me from buying a house out in Keller about 8 years ago.

Thank you for having my back. Sometimes I think the people on texags estimating their commutes have flying cars.

i never said it wasnt going to slightly suck. last i checked, most people on here were trying to sell living in ft worth and driving to westlake. That drive takes 30 mins with ZERO people on the road. add in a little traffic and there's 40 mins. .. ..all im saying is that between the TWO options, there is not a whole lot of difference in the way of traffic and time to work. both options will suck. unfortunately for this guy, he happened to get a job in bfe westlake. .. but still wants to live somewhere cool. if im a 22 year old guy and single, and fort worth and uptown are roughly the same distance from westlake, im living in uptown hands down. NEWSFLASH, he's not going to be able to have the best of all worlds here. .. and by the way, grapevine is a great city but will suck a$$ if you're a young single guy and 22, guarantee it.

live in uptown and just prepare yourself for a 35-40 minute drive every morning. it would be the same way coming from ft worth but you'll have much more fun living in a cool area.

Yeah, if you noticed I said I can't comment on the nightlife but I can say that a rough commute (in terms of traffic rather than time) can suck the life out of you.

west fort worth to westlake is 30 minutes with a fair amount of traffic. Knowing the mess that 121/114 is about to be, I would hate to live east of there.

where exactly are you talking about? because im about to call bullsh on you. .. .i live in westlake and work in downtown ft worth. .. sometimes when i work late and leave when there is NO traffic. .. .it still takes me 30 mins. with traffic takes me about 50-60

I think the moral of the story here is that if you're young and single, don't work in Westlake.

And I'm talking about the opposite commute, which is what the op is asking about.

you must have not read my last post. .. the point im making is that the physical distance between the two locations will take him 30 mins with absolutely no traffic. Now it's almost impossible to not encounter a little bit of traffic on that route. hence his drive will take between 30-45. .. which is roughly what uptown to westlake is. .. yo uhave to remember, 170 from 35 to westlake has about 6 stoplights
