A big-time pickup behind the plate.

On Monday night, former Clemson catcher Nate Savoie announced that he will transfer to Texas A&M to continue his collegiate career for the Fightin’ Texas Aggies.

A 6-foot, 215-pound backstop, Savoie is originally from Newport Beach, Calif., and he began his collegiate career at Loyola Marymount, where he was a first-team Freshman All-American outfielder and the 2025 WCC Freshman of the Year.

After making the move to the ACC, he continued to be extremely productive offensively, slashing .329/.413/.596 in 57 starts for the Tigers as a sophomore in 2026. He clubbed 16 home runs and 13 doubles while driving in 52 en route to third-team all-conference honors as an outfielder.

While he split his time at catcher and the outfield for Erik Bakich, the plan in Maroon & White is for Savoie to catch as Bear Harrison, who was much improved defensively in 2026 to go along with consistent production toward the bottom of A&M's lineup, is likely to begin his professional career when the MLB Draft arrives in July.

In two seasons of college baseball, Savoie’s career totals sit at .316/.399/.633 with 36 home runs, 27 doubles and 113 RBI in 431 at-bats across 110 games for the Lions and Tigers, respectively.

Entering 2026, Perfect Game rated him as the No. 50 sophomore in the nation and the No. 45 overall prospect for the 2027 MLB Draft.

As a prep player at Orange Lutheran High School in Orange, Calif., Savoie was a two-year letter winner and was the No. 71 catcher in the country.

A massive portal victory for Michael Earley & Co., this is the fifth transfer addition for the Aggies this summer.

Whooooop, looks like a great addition and someone that can come in and take over for Bear. I like the fact that he's also a great offensive addition.
