Here is the link where you can pull up old city council meetings. Go to August 25, 2022 and skip ahead to about 4 hour, 11 minute mark. Mike Logan, owner of Grand Station spoke. He wanted to purchase it as well. He expressed same views as a lot here feel.

I'm curious if what was said in Executive Session is available on an ORR?

In a September 1, 2022, interview Woods said "The city appraised the value of the LAND, depending on its eventual use, of between 6.5 and 11.5 million"

Seems odd how he only spoke of the land and not the building almost like they were going to parcel out pads and sell them

3 years later we have a building full of mold HVAC that does not work and a big parking lot and no one has told us how much this ownership costs on a monthly basis.

He needs to be held accountable for sure

The word land is often used when discussing a real estate property and it might or might not have a dwelling or other building.

Tip of my cap to OP and everyone else that has provided info on this. Thanks for bringing this to light of day.

And this is why there needs to be complete transparency. I had no idea, and I bet neither did most of us that the Grand Station guy tried to buy it. The only story I have ever heard is that the city blocked Jim from buying it. Speaking plainly, the city wouldn't get into these boondoggles if they simply stayed in their lane and quit playing roulette with our tax dollars.

The political elites are playing Monopoly with our money.

Wondering if this thread is making the rounds. The city employees I shared it with said, "business as usual"…

I knew I'd heard him speak on that before, just couldn'tremember where. It was when I was researching candidates for the November election and saw McIlhaney had spoken out against it. I continued watching and then I saw him.

LOL, McIlhaney was rocking an ACDC tshirt! I do think her views aline with Yancy.

Agreed. And I have to retract a portion of my earlier statement about an intense focus on a rec center being the driver…because I've just learned from these documents- for the first time- that the actual intent, at least at one point, was to acquire the entire Post Oak Mall.

I'll not be commenting on this thread further until I've read these documents thoroughly and had my questions answered.

My opinions are mine and should not be construed as those of city council or staff. I welcome robust debate but will cease communication on any thread in which colleagues or staff are personally criticized. I must refrain from comment on posted agenda items until after meetings are concluded. Bob Yancy 95

Good grief.

How many tax payer dollars would that have been?

What is the valuation of the entire mall?

Whatever it is, we'll offer double. - John Nichols, Bryan Woods, Natalie Ruiz, and Brian Piscacek.

(Sorry! I had to.)

for a sitting member of CS city council to say this, thanks to the due diligence of citizens that has brought a small part of this to the public square simply amazes me

thank you again for hopefully staying with all of us till the conclusion

This kind of thing is why recall elections exist. Why wait for the next election cycle? That just gives them more of a chance to waste your money. I've linked the official municipal code below.

Bryan Woods isn't in an elected position. Only one we could recall is Mayor Nichols, right? Other council members weren't involved in the purchase. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The email trail reads like a former city employee who is allegedly retired from the city did have it in for Jim Lewis, or at least the business plan he had for the location.

Doesn't matter what your opinion on that part of the matter is. We all read the emails that were posted.

I'm sure since this thread has been created, certain city employees have been directing their employees to do as much business in person or by phone and use email as little as possible there are fewer trails to follow.

I don't read a personal vendetta against Jim from Natalie's emails; I read that she viewed his venture as inferior to her plan.

Horrible decision making still, but not out of spite.

I think council member Yancy is on to something about the seller creating a fake storage unit bidder to speed the city up too.

I read it as she was frustrated with harsh direction from BW. When did she "retire" in relation to all of this?

Correct the mayor is the only one subject to recall, but the smoke screen by Woods, et. al, the meetings without council's knowledge, at the very least breaks policy, if not some laws.

Council policy is here - https://cdnsm5-hosted.civiclive.com/UserFiles/Servers/Server_12410832/File/Departments/Council/Council_Policy.pdf

Sone interesting points -

A lot of buzzwords around "transparency" and "citizen involvement". When in reality, that's not the case.

I found it laughable that the city manager that engaged in all this is charged with maintaining his own ethics. Not so much.

They are not living up to their standards, and it's up to us, the citizens to call them out on it because our news media is complicit in their corruption.

Bryan Woods has served as College Station's city manager since 2018. He previously was the assistant city manager (2017-18) and capital programs manager (2014-17) for the City of New Braunfels. Before entering municipal government, Woods was the vice president/office manager of the engineering firm Coyle-SDA, Inc., where he also served as director of engineering and project manager

https://www.cstx.gov/departments___city_hall/city_manager_s_office/city_managers_office_biographies

Pay close attention that the firm he used in all this effort was from the San Antonio / New Braunfels area. People he knew would keep things quiet. That's a conflict of interest, IMHO.

We have architecture firms here, ones that would welcome the work, if all this was on the up and up.

The out of town architecture firm? My guess is because they're his buddies. You scratch my back, I scratch yours.

I bet a real interesting read would be the city manager's emails in this period of time.

Again, all this is conjecture.

Nope. I work in tech. Definitely not an architect. My wife's family owns an architecture firm, but they are not here in BCS.

If he used a local firm to draw all this up, word would have gotten out, kinda like another project that I won't name on this thread, but there was great public outcry.

This is all disgusting. City hall needs a deep cleaning. Maddening how much crap private citizens and prospective users get when trying to deal with the city on a project, but they comport themselves in this manner. We pay their salaries and they treat us like garbage.

One thing I'm confused on is the emails from Presidian Hotels and Resorts. Was the city wanting to build a hotel to compete with the many others and the one TAMU built?
