The planned 1179 widening project would put a roundabout in place of the current S-curve/intersection at Steep Hollow/Murka. Plus widening 1179 would put the roadway right up against the current gas pumps.

I don't get the fascination with roundabouts. Just straighten out the curve of death and be done with it.

As they continue to develop along steep hollow, people needing to turn onto 1179 from steep hollow will require something other than a single stop sign. The options are 4 way stop, traffic light, a roundabout, or something even more exotic. Which would you choose?

With the relative traffic volumes on 1179 vs steep hollow, a roundabout about is most efficient and most people going straight on 1179 would only have to slow down a bit instead of stopping. Also with a 2 lane roundabout, the inside lane on 1179 should barely have to curve.

On the Border was a solid restaurant 10 to 15 years ago and has gone down since. Bad management, untrained staff, below aveage food, and pricy food will do you in.

My church had a committee meeting there a few months ago. I wondered why the chairperson would choose OTB but it ended up being perfect because the seven of us were able to meet and hear one another easily as one of three occupied tables in the whole restaurant. Plus, they had already started offering very cheap lunch options which usually signals the beginning of the end.

I know the restaurant was totally gutted but it looks like they're re-orienting it to have the dining room and kitchen switch places. For reference, this (my photo) is what it used to look like, with the fire damage on the rear (Old College) side.
