Bryan city leaders met Tuesday to approve an ordinance that paves the way for new development in the community.
The 25acre tract is located near the city limits on Highway 21, near the RELLIS Campus.
Now that the RELLIS Reinvestment Zone No. 2 has been approved, city officials said the city will continue negotiating to attract a highly sought-after data center, hoping to boost jobs and economic growth.

Didn't it go in right next to the free parking garage?

I'm a little confused, though - the currently under construction Rellis Data & Research Center is located inside the new Reinvestment Zone No. 2.... so I guess this will be a second data center right next door?Quote:
City officials did not release the potential investor's name, but they hope to have an agreement with the company in place soon.
There was an issue in 2019 with crumbling and then in 2021 they briefly closed it due to a structural concern. I have not heard anything since.Thisguy1 said:
Hadn't heard that. My cars are concrete debris free, but we probably only use it a handful of times a year. Has this been a big issue?
I've been involved with establishing several reinvestment zones on the developer side, and every one of those was initiated by the developer. No clue if that's always the case.Tailgate88 said:I saw that, and it sounds as if they have someone specific in mind:Captn_Ag05 said:

Well, it's a small percentage. 12% of the population is 25-40 here and of that who knows how many are married?? By the looks of the neighborhoods etc I would say a great majority are.
So, not many yuppies. Austin and Houston style concepts be damned

That location is a tough spot. It's not near any major draws and would have to stand on its own as a retail location, but it's too small for something like a supermarket.
Maybe it will end up being a fitness center (a real one, not Planet Fitness).

Also, from what I'm told the Academy owner isn't willing to sell. Lease only.
