Dang that is a pretty high price point for bar food. Hope it is excellent and does well but $17-18 bucks for a burger or chicken sandwich is steep. Not to mention $17 for 6 wings.
$17 + 8.25% tax + 20% tip gets you to $21.80 for 6 wings. Add to that the parking and it gets expensive.

Didn't it go in right next to the free parking garage?

Bryan city leaders met Tuesday to approve an ordinance that paves the way for new development in the community.

The 25acre tract is located near the city limits on Highway 21, near the RELLIS Campus.

Now that the RELLIS Reinvestment Zone No. 2 has been approved, city officials said the city will continue negotiating to attract a highly sought-after data center, hoping to boost jobs and economic growth.

The garage that randomly drops big chunks of concrete onto vehicles but has been checked out by engineers multiple times and is totally fine to park in, like, for real.

Hadn't heard that. My cars are concrete debris free, but we probably only use it a handful of times a year. Has this been a big issue?

I saw that, and it sounds as if they have someone specific in mind:

Quote:

City officials did not release the potential investor's name, but they hope to have an agreement with the company in place soon.
I'm a little confused, though - the currently under construction Rellis Data & Research Center is located inside the new Reinvestment Zone No. 2.... so I guess this will be a second data center right next door?

There was an issue in 2019 with crumbling and then in 2021 they briefly closed it due to a structural concern. I have not heard anything since.

I've been involved with establishing several reinvestment zones on the developer side, and every one of those was initiated by the developer. No clue if that's always the case.

Well, it's a small percentage. 12% of the population is 25-40 here and of that who knows how many are married?? By the looks of the neighborhoods etc I would say a great majority are.

So, not many yuppies. Austin and Houston style concepts be damned

I don't understand this idea that you have to be single to go out to a nice place to eat. DINKs have money and someone to go out with. Plus, if both are making 6 figs, a nice dinner isn't a stretch.

Haven't you heard, all this AI stuff needs lots of compute power. And lots of electricity to go with it. So much so that Amazon signed a power purchase agreement with 3 Mile Island for nuclear power.

So one or more data centers right next to RELLIS plus Sharps plan to lease out System land for nuclear power plants all fits together nicely.

That location is a tough spot. It's not near any major draws and would have to stand on its own as a retail location, but it's too small for something like a supermarket.

Maybe it will end up being a fitness center (a real one, not Planet Fitness).

Also, from what I'm told the Academy owner isn't willing to sell. Lease only.

Crunch fitness is already close to their breakeven number with membership over 5,000. That location is one thousand times better than old Academy.

Can confirm this. I wanted to buy it and make the existing structure EE office and then build a strip center in front for lease. The price goalpost kept moving until our agent finally said look they aren't really interested in selling. They want a long term lease.

We tried COCO shrimp last night and I was impressed. Plenty of food and a reasonable cost and very tasty. Like many of the Century Square places it is fine to get as take out as there isn't really much ambience to the place.

Parking is up to a friggin $4 for 90 minutes, that kind of stinks. We usually go there on Sunday when parking is free so that was a bit annoying.

Tried Red's Ice House last night with some good friends. Lots of TVs, lots of beer on tap, fairly busy for a Wednesday night, slightly limited menu, but should be full menu in a couple of weeks after the kitchen has a chance to settle in. Seems like it would be a great place to hang out on Gameday or any major sporting activity day due to TVs, outdoor patio....

Wings - Really good flavor and they were cheaper than the online menu. Nice sized, 3 flats and 3 drums. not priced to fill up on but a very good appetizer. (Would Buy Again)

Hatch Chili Queso/Chips/Salsa - All very good (Would Buy Again)

Ribs - Decent flavor but a little over cooked - Sweet Potato Fries/Tomato JAM was really good, Jicama slaw was also very good. Will try other stuff before getting Ribs again, but definitely would get either of the sides anytime I go.

The Quite Bird - Grilled Chicken Sandwich with Tots - Good flavor - Good portion sizes

Friends had Burgers, Chicken Fingers and they enjoyed both.

The Club looked good at another table, but noone got it at ours.

Enough food that folks took stuff home...

Service was a bit off, as they work out the kinks, but nothing terrible...

AGM stopped by and asked for feedback and seemed appreciative of what we provided.

They have COKE and Dr. P, so that is a big plus for this family...

We will definitely go back. Want to try some of the items not available during the first couple of weeks.

Does anybody know if something is going on with Frank's Place on 1179? I drove by in the late afternoon (between 4:30-5:30) on Tuesday and Thursday this week and it wasn't open. That's not the first times I've driven by at times when I would expect it to be open and it wasn't.

I know the 1179 widening/roundabout/median (*spit*) project would take a chunk out of the front of their lot. Are they closing down because of it?
