Had a package recently delivered to a P.o. box in Hearne instead of my house in College Station…

Would be great if I could just call the Hearne post office but guess what?
you can't

You can't really call any post office anymore. I will say the people that work at the hearne post office are really nice.

If he was covering his ears when being asked a question by a congressperson, he should have been fired before the sun set.

While covering the ears is childish, the congressperson wasn't asking a question at that point. The congressperson was too busy trying to lay all the blame for the failure of the post office on one postmaster general, rather acknowledging the post office's issues are a result of of failures by both Congress and several post master generals.

PMG wasn't much better trying to blame everything on Congress instead of acknowledging his own faults.

Sad. They are all so nice.

Their carriers do a good job of actually consistently delivering the mail every day at roughly the same time too

Had to go to the PO and pick this package up today, workers laughed because this carrier is "already on probation" whatever that means. Here is the new timeline per USPS

Quote:

Sat-
Package held by carrier as as front door or driveway was not accessible.
Sun-
Animal not permitting carrier to deliver
Today-
Snake coiled up on concrete driveway

These are our tax dollars squarely at work for us

Snake? Snakes are not active when the average temp falls below 55 degrees. With the weather recently, there will be no snakes out.

I had a yard guy once whose helper would not blow off my back patio because my dog barked at him...........through the back door.

After two days (Fri and Sat) without mail, on Sunday, a white mini-van pulled up at our mail box and delivered the mail (letters), he then proceeded to the next mail box and delivered some letter and so on down the street, stopping at every mail box. This was NOT an amazon order, it was normal post.

Has anyone else had this happen to them recently? Is the carrier paid overtime to deliver mail (not AMAZON) on a Sunday? (It could have waited until Monday).

Again this was not an AMAZON delivery.

No doubt, still could have waited till Monday. The question is why was not the mailed delivered on Fri/Sat?

They have a contract with Amazon. When you see a mail truck on Sunday, it's only carrying Amazon packages.

Are you signed up for Informed Delivery and Delivery Notification?

While the Informed Delivery scan may be a day or two late and the newer Delivery Notification option has been sporadic, it makes no delivery for a day or two or three more palatable.

Especially when you see all the mail you were supposed to get was junk and you can throw it all away at the same time when the do eventually deliver multiple days worth.

I would be curious as to how he said Congress was the fault for my package being "out for delivery" for three weeks and then delivered to a house four blocks away?

Pebble Creek here. We got mail last week midweek, maybe it was Thursday. Then again on Sunday, but alas it was the neighbor's mail. So I'm going on a week with no mail delivery. And it would be unheard of that I get no mail for a week, like nothing at all. So it has to be non-delivery.

We used to have an outstanding rural carrier, drove a white jeep. She was very consistent with our delivery and rarely made any mistakes. She retired I guess sometime after covid and it's been complete chaos ever since. Completely irregular delivery and I get the poor guy's mail from the street over about half the time.

I've never witnessed the complete collapse of a public service like this before.

Be not afraid. A golden age of postal service is about to dawn. I assume this will alleviate our local delivery issues.
