Rusty just did a story.

https://www.kbtx.com/2024/10/08/bryan-college-station-residents-express-outrage-over-us-postal-service-here-we-are-with-nothing/

That story is not new, it's from Oct 8.

Nothing has improved. I feel for our local carriers. They are not to blame. They are overworked annd overwhelmed. The current system is just so broken.

Edited to add the recent KBTX story: https://www.kbtx.com/2024/10/18/mail-delays-missing-packages-continue-frustrate-bryan-college-station-residents/

This never seemed to be a problem when the sorting/distribution center was here.

Wife's package that didn't arrive when it was supposed to arrived this evening.

Two of these were ordered in different colors. The first arrived as scheduled and in a cardboard box with packing materials. You know, like Amazon usually ships.

She complained to Amazon when this one didn't show.

Here it is tonight. The normal packaging as if she grabbed if off a shelf at Target or Wal-Mart. Shipping label and packing tape slapped on it.

I wonder if had been taken out for use by a postal employee and they got questioned about it.

Remember the story that the Hearne Wal-Mart got shut down because the employees were robbing it blind? I bet Amazon is replacing a lot of "lost in the mail" items in our area. And for sure in Houston.

New story on KBTX today.

Bryan-College Station residents urge higher intervention in response to continuous mail delays https://www.kbtx.com/2024/10/18/bryan-college-station-residents-urge-higher-intervention-response-continuous-mail-delays/

This tells me that nothing is going to change: "USPS has yet to provide an official statement on the matter, though KBTX has reached out for comment on multiple occasions and to inquire about potential solutions, including whether a town hall or community meeting might be organized to address these issues directly with residents."

Yep. The USPS does care. The system is too broken.

I just want to know why I have a different delivery person every day. Every day. They don't even have time to learn the route. The delivery vehicle just roams back and forth all over the neighborhood. They have no training at all apparently. I miss my old mailman.

Not going to help at all.

It's so sad to see how hard USPS is struggling. I witnessed a woman, on my street today, in a small sedan with flashing lights, smoking a cigarette, climbing from the driver's seat to the passenger window to stuff a package in the mailbox.

I can only surmise they are hiring anyone they can to try to deliver packages on time. Or at least delivered at all.

I don't live in BCS, but I do follow this board to keep up with the happenings in Aggieland.

I live in the Waco area, we do not have any of the issues that the people on BCS are experiencing with USPS. Mail and packages are delivered when expected. The mail system may be poorly run, but it works pretty well for most. There are obviously problems with the distribution center that processes the mail for the area and probably additional issues in BCS.

New KBTx story - notice there has not been a person with a name from USPS making a on camera appearance for any of these stories.

USPS addresses delays in Bryan-College Station and vows immediate action https://www.kbtx.com/2024/10/22/usps-addresses-delays-bryan-college-station-vows-immediate-action/

What could be so special about our local postal system that makes it different from all others?
Someone needs to come in and solve the problem.
I can't imagine it is rocket science.

In the past several days I've had two conversations with two different mail carriers, neither of which I've ever seen before. I am afraid my normal carrier, who was great, must have finally run screaming from the job, as I haven't seen him in two weeks, and there was a period of five days where nobody in our subdivision got any mail at all. It was a Friday delivery, then nothing until the following Thursday.

The second day mail resumed delivery, I caught the carrier. She was new and said part of the problem is they have so many problems with the delivery vehicles breaking down that they are asking carriers to use their personal vehicles. She was actually in a mail truck but said the day before the one she was driving broke down the first subdivision on her route and she had to finish up in her personal vehicle.

Then, on Monday morning at 7:30am I saw a black pickup truck with package stacked up to where you could see the pile of Amazon boxes. Our mail usually comes at 2:00ish (when the normal driver is working) so the timing was unusual. This was someone new, who was driving her personal vehicle and she said they were way behind on package deliveries, and asking employees to not only drive their personal vehicles, but come in starting at 6:00am to try and help catch up.

USPS notified me of a parcel delivery yesterday at 630 pm. Checked at 8pm and then 8 am today - nothing. Then this pm at 430 - it's there. I guess better late than never, but clearly the delivery notification was aspirational, not factual.

The postal workers are marking them as delivered when they really haven't delivered them, because they will get dinged on bad performance if they have a bunch of late items...

Good thing the govt canceled the approved fleet overhaul and sent it back to the drawing board and bid process to replace the ICE vehicles with battery powered vehicles.

Clearly this is status quo, anyone have an idea how to fix this? ... I fear the free market model is failing here, gang. I'd try AMZN drone delivery but currently out of range.

OIG (which is the USPS Office of Investigations) have authority to drop the hammer on fraud, just not clear if "let's mark it as delivered and they'll get it some time tomorrow" will raise enough eyebrows. Anyone reading with law experience please chime in.

The post office will do their own thing & nobody cares about late mail. It has been going on for four years.

Possibly the best thing might be to rent a box at the UPS store or something like that.

Use Fedex or UPS, it will cost more, but that is simply the absolute solution if you need something.

I sent a letter to Lufkin Friday 10/18 from CS and it still hasn't been delivered.

The Pony Express in the 1860s would have had it delivered in two days.

Having a box at the Postal Store solves porch theft, but it might cause delay in obtaining packages after hours and on Sundays. Also, the post office will still take weeks to deliver it to the postal store.

Can you call the postal store and they will check your box to see if a letter has been delivered or do you have to every day to see?

I use Fedex for the three to four times a year I have to have something delivered in three days or less.

I just received a Birthday card that was postmarked on the 8th. Mailed from College Station and delivered to my home in College Station. My Birthday was the 17th.
Just wait until this level of incompetency hits the health and human services folks. At that point we are screwed.
The folks that depend on them will be in the streets with pitchforks.

The problem is that it's a continuous issue across government including the IRS, medicare, and even the military.

My Amazon seller account is threatening me to cancel and close my account.a everything is 100% including package shipped on time.

However the package received on time metric is 54% and they require 90% to remain in good standing.

Another Friday with no mail... I see this too often on Mondays and Fridays (CoCS). My normal postal carrier must be on holiday. FYI We get at least three of four junk mails a day, so a day without mail is not the norm.

The only way that the postal service is going to get better is when Congress makes them. If you have an issue you need to go to the USPS website and file a ticket and then go to Michael McCaul's website and let his office know your issue and that you filed a complaint. My experience has been his office staff is good.
