Excellent. Thank you for letting me know.

It is really inconvenient. But I will likely be trading in my car at some point towards the end of this year or the beginning of next for a line that isn't even available here. So I might as well get used to it.

There were some very interesting comments about this group of dealers in the Automotive board maybe last year. They sound like they are all crooks.

I haven't found a consistently good dealer here:

Sterling GMC

~2012. I had a completely stock 2009 Duramax that would smoke like a freight train during the regen cycle. I diagnosed it through internet research and told them what the issue was (cracked DPF). They refused to investigate, telling me it's a diesel and they all smoke. I took it to the dealer in Comanche that quickly diagnosed it and had it replaced under warranty.

2022. I needed a new truck and got in touch with a salesman that stated they had a new AT4 Duramax in transit, and he would call me when it arrived. Nothing was ever discussed other than MSRP, which I was fine paying due to the market at that time. A few weeks later, I got the call on a Saturday. Raced across town, sat down in his office, only to find a $5k "market adjustment". Got up and walked out.

Allen Honda

Looked at a few used cars on their lot but am not going to touch $2k for their bs tint and nitrogen package.

CS Ford

Meh. I've wound up finding the best deal here on both a 2018 Super Duty and a 2023 Expedition. They tried the add on BS with the Expedition, but I got out of it. Their service has sucked. Unable to diagnose transmission issues with my current Super Duty and wanted $300 to fix my 4x4 that I found to be a torn vacuum line that I replaced for no cost with a scrap piece of hose from Autozone.

Team Ford (2018, may have been called something else).

Working a deal on a demo Super Duty (same day I bought the 2018 from CS). Johnny Manziel's dad was the GM there at the time and was a complete ass to me. Left and went to CS and got a better deal on a similarly optioned truck with no miles on it.

The most stark thing about reading this entire thread….

Not one single person from any of the mentioned dealerships coming on here to comment or try to help smooth this all over. We all know there's got to be a few of them lurking and they are quiet as a mouse…

There was a thread in recent months in which someone created an account to talk about their experience with a local dealer ( I think Hyundai). The GM is an active poster here. If I remember right, he made every effort to smooth things over, but the OP was one of those people that just doesn't want to be happy. It was here or in the Automotive board.

I've bought one vehicle from them, and went to them to purchase another but ultimately did not.

The vehicle I bought from them was back in 2013. Process was flawless, simple and easy. No problems, no advanced work but was in and out within about an hour or so. Price was about 7k under MSRP at the time (mid 2013 on a 2013 model). Used their service to purchase a part or two in those 7 years I had that vehicle without a problem.

Went back last year on a 2021 F-150 that was used. Had significant problems (Powerboost function not working, etc) and a VERY bad shaking when on the test drive at ~50mph up to ~65mph (Didn't feel safe trying to go to 70). They indicated that the service department had looked at it and it was just tires. Tires were new, but they were either so out of balance I can't believe a tire shop put them out the door, or it wasn't that. They offered $250 off to replace the tires then; on what would've been at least $1000 for new tires. I did not buy that time.

I've bought multiple vehicles from Allen Honda but it's been a while. Tried going back but won't put up with their up charges. I still go there for service like oil changes as one of my vehicles is an Acura.

Most recent truck purchase was from CS Ford. Held my nose but they were fair. I will say this, they have been great this year with service. They weren't always like this but I've had good experiences with them on some warranty work.

They were a high BEFORE their add ons, so when they started to talk about that I just left.

A buddy who insists on buying local ordered a nice (one trim level below top of the line) truck from a local dealership. They pushed back his delivery date and a few months later, informed him that it got pushed back again. However, they just happened to have a brand new top of the line truck on the lot that was much nicer than the one he ordered and cost way more. He begrudgingly accepted and bought it because he really needed a new truck and he had waited months already. A few days later, the manufacturer emailed him and says good news, the truck he originally ordered will be delivered the following week. And that, ladies and gentleman, is one of the many reasons I will not buy a car locally.

I've purchased 3 vehicles from them since 2016. All delivered to my house at the agreed upon price without any issues. All done via e-mail and phone calls and basically effortless.

I just bought a new Civic in Houston at John Eagle with no add ons at all, did all the pricing over email and was in and out in 45 mins. They said a lot of people from Brazos county buy there.

One of my neighbors had Aggieland Chevy pull a bait and switch on them a couple of weeks ago.

They were looking for a Tahoe Z71, called AC and were told they have one in their price range. They show up and take the keys of the car they rode in on, said they were bringing the Tahoe around. End up coming in with a top line GMC Denali that way overpriced. They said they didn't have the Tahoe anymore but were willing to work on a deal for the Denali. My neighbor refused and they straight up refused to give him the keys back and it got pretty escalated to point of about to call the cops saying they were being held against their will.

I'm sure there was some emotions added but even on the surface - not a good look....

That's all sorts of wrong and I highly doubt that GM would appreciate that. I would report this behavior to GM and to the AG's office. That dealer deserves to lose their franchise. You don't do that to people

They're a Keating dealership, I believe, which explains a lot of this.

They took mine to evaluate my trade, which is understandable. But when I told them "no thanks" and went to leave, it took them another 5-10 minutes to find them.

I guess the only reason dealers pull all this BS is because enough morons go along with it that it pays off for them.

Me: "I'm fine. Thank you for your time sir." (after telling them on our previous call that I saw no need to visit in person if we couldn't reach an agreement over the phone).
Them: "We'll work with you but I need you here".
Me: No response.

I guess the strategy is to get someone emotionally attached to the vehicle or make them feel like they've invested too much time to let the deal fall through? This was strictly a business deal for me. My current daily is much nicer than the vehicle I was trying to purchase.

that's exactly what their strategy is.

What's funny is that is must work here. Because the last three cars I purchased, I didn't so much as test drive them. I literally told the dealership the car and options I wanted, when I wanted to come by and pick it up, and how much I was going to put down. The only thing that was up for negotiation was my trade-in. I was in and out each time within an hour. Most of everything was done via email. Maybe because this was in Austin? Who knows.

Don't let these guys bully you, y'all. It's not worth it.

There are certain dealerships that show the price online with no BS. Don't pay msrp, and don' pay for window tint/nitrogen/ceramic coating

I tried to buy a new Mazda at Douglass recently. They wouldn't negotiate on their dealer add-on packagethings like rubber floor mats, and plastic behind the door handles to protect it from being scratched by fingernails. Their add-ons were stuff that I didn't want, and I explained that.

I left there, drove to Gullo in Conroe and bought a vehicle for $2500 less than what Douglass would give us. Gullo was super great to buy from!

I really wasn't prepared for how bothered this thread made me. I hate things that take advantage of people!

We just bought the wife a new Chrysler Pacifica 3 months ago but (luckily, it seems) did so while in Ft Worth for an event.

They had only added window tint and, when I told them it wasn't the tint we wanted, they credited $500 to the price.

Let's hope we start seeing these things get better and the market corrected.

If you are going to do a trade in, get a quote from Carvana or any of the other dot com sites. Plug in mileage, condition , options, such as leather seats. A legitimate dealership will get very close to the Carvanna quote. They will be slighltly lower, but you get the tax advantage of a trade-in.

You will have to go to Houston or Austin.

Car dealerships always find ways to piss me off. We drove down to Houston to look at a truck for my brother years ago. We pull in and start looking at the truck when all of a sudden the doors lock. We go in and ask what's going on and they say they just sold that truck and start telling us about other new trucks they can sell us. A little while later one of the workers gets in it and drives off. It was pretty clear it was his personal truck.

I bought a used Ford from a Lincoln dealership about 4 years ago. I asked for more pictures of the truck and he takes some, and I notice one of the fog lights is broke, and it wasn't on the main listing. I ask him about it and plays dumb and says it doesn't look broke. I told him I'm not buying the truck unless it's fixed so then he says he talked to someone and they must have hit something in the parking lot and they'll fix it. We get down there and it's fixed, I like the truck so I start the process of buying it. I get to the finance guy and start reading the paperwork and see they changed the interest rate a whole percent higher than what was agreed on. We got that fixed. Everything is signed and I go to get in my truck and leave and the guy is moping over and said he can't let me take it because they broke a mirror off washing it. Fully convinced he did that so I'd call back to get the warranty on it. He did give me a loner and drove my truck down here to when it was fixed. Just a bunch of questionable things throughout the process.

We bought a new Pacifica Hybrid at Allen Samuels in Waco in 2021. We negotiated the price online/by phone and drove over to complete the deal. We overall were quite satisfied with them. This was just before supply chain issues started pushing prices up, so it wasn't the seller's market we've had since. I'd gladly look at them again. I also wish they were closer to try their service department instead of local options.

you have to watch most of the chain tire dealers. My wife went to DT in May for one tire and they said all four needed to be replaced. I took it to a locally owned repair shop and they looked them and said she probably had 15000 miles on three of them until the tread depth gets to the replace point ....she is still driving with the three "bad" tires.
