Western Kentucky flew in to play SHSU. If on a charter it is the same cost to fly into CLL vs IAH. However they get concierge services at CLL and can get loaded on buses easier. When flying out security and loading up is easier too.

I live under the take off/landing zone for CLL (Castlegate). Noticed an Allegiant Air landing a few days ago. Checked FlightAware and it was a flight from Bowling Green Kentucky. Today, within a couple hours of each other, two Sun Country Airlines planes flew overhead and were headed to Memphis. Just curious why these airlines are flying in and out of CLL. TAMU sports teams? First responders training at Disaster City? I'm used to American Eagle flights coming and going, as well as smaller aircraft. Not used to larger passenger planes overhead.

Isn't that a 747?trouble said:
Are you questioning that they land here or what it is?
If anyone knows when that thing is taking off I'd love to see it...trouble said:
A modified one, yes.
Sorry, was multitasking when I was reading the thread. I'll edit it.trouble said:
Isn't a 777 about the same size? Tony Blair was here in one around the time I was in nursing school. At CLL, I mean, no one said the doomsday plane was at the Bush library
I was an Aggie bus driver then and picked up a charter shift which ended up being driving a bus full of reporters that were on the plane around. Got to stand in the handshake line and shake his and Babs' hand.UmustBKidding said:
George hw was here in 89 in the 707 rendition of air force one. Have pictures of him exiting on the ramp at easterwood in my pile of prints somewhere. In my memory there was a dignitaries 747 here a few years later and the issue was taxiway loading so the landed and back taxied and closed the airport until they departed.
