re: my cupcakery. We had frozen yogurt on V-day across the street and my BF expressed surprise that he actually saw people inside. I wondered about that too. Cupcakes are cool and all, but I can't really see people making a regular habit of snacking on gourmet cupcakes. Even the ones at Kroger will go untouched for days.

Is this a second Layne's on Wellborn? That's the last thing we need. Hate that place...

There's been a second laynes on welborne for awhile....I remember ordering from them last year.

I think it's referring to the one on SWP and Wellborn.

Chicken Express's sign went up yesterday in their new downtown Bryan - Texas Av location.

Sorry, I meant a second Wellborn Road location. In other words, a third location. I just read the news article though and saw where they were referring to the newer location that's been here a couple years.

It's not here, but word on the street is someone bought the Sears Woodlands location and will close them.

Sears sold back 11 locations to General Growth properties for them to redevelop or retenant those anchor spaces. That's one of the 11

Lupe Tortilla signs officially up in front of Barnes & Nobel! I'm not sure which restaurant it's replacing, but it looked like workers were fixing up the old building this morning. Exciting news!

Capital Grill is only in major markets/cities.

They can't get by on $3K a day in sales. There are some local restaurants that do well on a couple grand a day, but a large chain, especially a pricey steakhouse, can't make it on that.

You are trying to compare Naples, FL to College Station, TX? The Naples area is extremely wealthy and sees a ton of tourism/temporary residents on a yearly basis. Naples also is in an MSA of well over 300,000 people. Burlington, VT has ski resorts and mountains visited all year by people up and down the Eastern Seaboard. Again, huge tourism dollars there all year long. College Station does not have the demographic profile at this point in time to support something like a Ruth's Chris or Capital Grille. We can't even support one of the major Pappas chains. Restaurants like those need to do well on nights other than Friday and Saturday. If our restaurant market were as robust as some here think it is, a lot of those players would be here doing business right now.

Even better then...Take a look at the population within a 30 minute drive time as well as average household income in Burlington, Mass.

You want a market to compare the College Station market to? Try Tyler or San Angelo.

I get your rub with the way he presents his arguments. However, regardless of whether his analytics are true or not, the fact remains that those types of restaurants cannot be supported by the demographics of the BCS market. That much he has right.
