I just tried something new that I REALLY enjoyed... the Indian Tabac Super Fuerte...

http://cigars.about.com/od/reviewsratings1/fr/indiantabac.htm

For a "value priced" smoke it was really nice.

Couple it with the three homebrews (7% abv) I've had after mowing the yard and I'm feeling no pain.

The following are almost always in my rotation:

Torano Casa Torano Churchill, Rubosto & A Natural (The A Natural is a 8.5x50 bad-boy. Great smoke.)

Torano Reserva Selecta Rubosto & Torpedo

Partagas Naturales & #10

Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real Robusto & #2

Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur Epicure & #III

I also have a guy in Canada, but that's another story for another day.

Last night was a Punch night.

Any Aggies still on campus who may be interested in joining other Aggies for cigars should look into Aggie Aficionados, the official cigar club of A&M. Look for the table at MSC Open House. They will pry be at a table outside smoking cigars. It was a pretty good club a few years ago when I was on campus.

last night was a PAM '64 Monarch.

tonight is a gispert robusto. a box of these just came in and i'm going to light one up rather than letting them rest.

Gispert was one of the worst cigars I ever had.

Perhaps I just got a bad one, because they were recommended to me as a good value smoke.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
i've had really good luck with them.

when i wanted a change of pace, i would grab a natural. recently i had the maduro, and was pleasantly surpised at its performance.

i'd say give it another try.

or it could just be different strokes for different folks.

Anejo 77 Cameroon last night. Not as good as the normal Anejo but still not bad.

Diamond Crown or Fuente. I haven't branched out too much.

I am contemplating a couple fingers of single malt and a cigar later. Needs to cool down, some, though! It's still 85 out there and it's 7:30!

If I go out, it will be with an Alec Bradley "Maxx" that came highly recommended by a cigar buddy.

As someone already stated, the Cusano 18 is a GREAT mild smoke. The other Cusanos I have tried are a little too spicy for my taste.
On a related note, the owner of the local shop just recently told me about the Cusano line that includes the M1 (made to mimic a Macanudo-same tobacco origins), the MC (mimics a Monte Cristo), the P1 (mimics Punch/Partagas), and the CC (I assume to mimic a Cohiba). I bought a few of each, all churchills and robustos, for $1.99 each! I have tried the M1 and the MC so far, and I really like both especially the MC. They seem to be well made cigars-smooth draws and even burn-just like all other Cusanos that I've tried so far.

Of all the 'gars I've smoked, I have never smoked a Cusano. A few years ago their reviews were horrible for the most part so I just wrote them off. Perhaps I'll give one a shot sometime. I liek spicy and I like full.

with your taste, skip the cusanos and go straight for the Don Pepin's.

i had a blue band the other day and it was medium-full and full of spice.

The few Pepins I've tried I have liked. I am a huge Tatuaje fan especially the Miami rolled. The Especial is awesome! I really need another box. It would be nice to fine a cheaper gar or two for weekday smokes. The most economical one that I really like is the Fuente Cuban Belicoso, at under $5 a stick it's a bargain.

i enjoy fuente's double chateau sun grown.

i think they have the green ribbons at the foot.

they are well made and very economical.

Does anyone have a website recommendation for buying? I have a friend who buys everything online and he loves it. I just want to see what other sites people enjoy purchasing from.

If you can find an 858 sungrown I'll gladly take it off your hands! I'm hoping they'll have a few at Casa Fuente when I'm in Vegas in August. Even there they rarely have them.
MasterAggie

AGSPORTSFAN07 I recommend Holts and Old Virginia Tobacco. Habana House out of Austin has good selection but some things are a bit high. Bonita smoke shop has Aurora Cien Anos at great prices but I don't really knwo about their other stuff. Those are really the only online places I buy from. Leaf & Ale has some good Tatuaje prices as well.

My favorite value smoke is the Baccarat Belicoso Maduro. At something like $3 each it's a steal.

Cigar smokers. I have a problem ...I love a good cigar as much as anyone. What I dont like is that I can taste the thing for three days. Any tips to get rid of it??
MasterAggie
How long do you want to ignore this user?
If you can taste it for 3 days you're not smoking a great cigar (at least probably not). I will say this if you drink TOO dang much when smoking it tends to stick with you longer. A really good cigar should have an aftertaste that lasts up to a couple of hours max. You may be getting them too hot (smoking too fast), relighting frequently, or a bunch of other things I guess.

That said last night I had to put out an Aurora Cien Anos robusto because it had a horrible burn, a terrible tragedy for a cigar that pricey. A follow up Hemingway Work of Art took away the pain though.

swamp--

you might look into the way you're smoking the cigar.

a 5" cigar usually lasts me an hour. if i smoke any faster, the cigar gets too hot. if it gets hot the cigar flavors get harsh, and then that is the taste on your palate. when you slow smoke a cigar, the burn is much cooler and much more flavorful.

i smoked a cigar last night, brushed my teeth and swigged with mouthwash and this morning is normal.
MasterAggie
How long do you want to ignore this user?
txglovedropper I'm abotu the same, depending on what it is a robusto may last me even longer. A davidoff millinium robusto will last a solid 2 hours, same as a lot of churchills. I have never understood how when you read reviews of tastings that a robusto says burn time 30 minutes!

Deal or No Deal!!!

Cigar Special

I'm not a frequent Cigar smoker, but I will spend a pretty penny for a good cigar. I'm thinking that the above deal might be good for me to get started on purchasing a good starting humidor for myself as well as getting some cigars I really enjoy. Any thoughts?

Padrons are the only way to go.
MasterAggie
How long do you want to ignore this user?
AGSPORTSFAN07 that's high. While in all honesty the curly head for a mixed short filler cigar doesn't taste bad (it's the clippings from Hemingway, Don Carlos, and Chateau fuentes) they are very cheap $1+. Go to smokemag.com and go to the auction look for humidors and you will be able to get a better deal! Chemist since you're a Gurkha guy if I remember right, they have great deals on Gurkha if you don't already know that. They are up in your neck of the woods.

i say no deal.

the cigars they are offering are relatively crappy. infact, the curly heads are short filler.

you can find a 25-50ct humi on ebay or other sites anywhere b/w $15-$40. then buy your own 5-packs either from www.cigarbid.com or from www.holts.com.

it might cost you a tad bit more this way, but you'll be getting quality smokes.

i like watching cigarette smokers draw on a dog rocket robusto and wipe the thing out in 15 minutes.

then they say the cigar is nasty becaues of the harshness and have to light a cigarette to get the taste out of their mouth.

last nights toro was 1.5 hours of smoothness, perfect burning, and great flavor.
