Almost forgot... went fishing down home and fished with Capt. Ronnie Pfeiffer of South Padre Island Charters. He really worked hard for us despite the crappy weather and we hooked up with some very nice reds and trout. Great guy who really made us feel comfortable. Tons of fun. (956) 497-6384.

Capt. Quinc Percy-Awesome guy and a good aggie.
Based around Belton, will go just about anywhere in the state that you want to go and he is familiar with.

I think his main hotspots are texoma and the coast. We slaughtered the striper with him this summer. Excellent trip

Try the Double T ranch outside of Rocksprings, my FIL guides there, good whitetails, excellent Axis hunting and if you are in the market for a very big Red Stag this year, email me at tommy862@yahoo.com. They have a set of 15 or so big Red Stag. And if you have never eaten red stag back strap you are missing out. They are awesome on the grill! They also have audad, some scimitar horned oryz (sp) smaller 3-5 year old red stag for around $2500 I think as well as black buck and just about anything else. Great place to hunt turkey's too.

The game room is worth the trip as the owner is a very rich Houstonian that has everything from a world record axis taken on the place (full body mount is awesom) to the governor buck mule deer from NM a couple of years back. A full body mount of an african lion (awesome mount) and stuff from Russia, china, red sheep from Iran, also have red sheep to hunt.

Good food and drink for all. They usually have a spring axis doe and turkey hunt for around $400.

Went duck hunting over the break with these guys down in aransas pass. I took my grooms men as their present and not only did we have a fantastic hunt, but the guides were first class the whole way. Can't say enough good things, we actually decided to go down there and hunt with these guys every year now.

Capt. Robert Grant and Roy Forester for Dos Dorados fishing charters out of Freeport.

Great offshore fishing guides. I went offshore with them last summer and tore the fish up(caught blackfin tuna, aj's, snapper, and dorado)...if you want any pictures from that trip just let me know and I will email you the pictures.

Just got back from Bay Flats Lodge in Seadrift (just south of Port Oconnor), fishing was fair...weather sucked, but the lodging and food was awesome. Capt. Chris Martin and his guides go all out for a first class trip. Their new lodge will be open in April and it looks unbeleivable...if you want to fish for specs and reds, with meals and lodging give this outfit a call.

3rd Bay Flats, it was awesome when we went. They sure did try hard to get us on the fish. We only had a half day payed for, but let us stay out till almost 4 p.m. Ended up with a bull red for everyone, plus a couple more we released. Awesome day! Who was yalls guide? TJ was great.

If any of you guys like fishing for steelhead, check out this place:
http://www.alaskaflyfishingcamps.com/

This is Kodiak Island and the fishing starts in mid-late September through late October. It's 5-6 days of fishing, roughly 6 fishermen per trip, 2-3 guides and a cook. We would walk and wade all day with daypacks and lunch. I fished with some really hard core steelhead junkies and a few of those guys were beaching 20+ fish per day. My best was 6, ranging up to 28 - 30 inches. The travel wasn't easy and I bet we walked 3-5 miles per day over some uneven/rough terrain. All of that said, Kodiak Island is incredible. Our camp was VERY remote and the only people I saw the entire week were the ones I fished with. We only saw bears 3-4 days, but one of them looked like an absolute brute to this untrained eye. Saw Bald Eagles almost every day and had one that was usually perched in a tree just outside our camp as we left every morning. The float trip out to the sea to catch our plane out was wonderful as well.

My father and I have always wanted to hunt big whitetails up North, preferably Canada. We have hunted all over Texas and want to experience hunting in hardwoods with snow. It's all about the experience and not necessarily the kill. Does anyone have a recommendations/tips for Canadian whitetails?

For trophy Rainbow and Brown trout I highly recommend... www.bighornangler.com/index.htm in Montana.

No kidding ya'll, the biggest trout I've ever caught on a fly and IMO the best fly fishing in the lower 48. Glen Strickland is the operator. He and his brother Neil both guide. Ask for either one. I'm going back next month.

For Salmon, Steelhead and trout fishing in the Pacific NW southernoregonfishingguide.com Scott is a great guide. Very meticulous and a great person. Top notch equipment in every detail. Email me if you would like more info.

For unbelievable duck/goose hunting in northern LA rice field country contact Top Gun guides at 318-647-3577. Owners are my kin folk. They are cotton farmers by trade and work their butts off in the fall to put folks on ducks. They have great cabins on a moss lined bonity and dogs are welcome. Doesn't get any better and I've hunted all over the Texas coast.

markandles,
We've fished with Brian Grossenbacher several times. He's a great guide and a lot of fun. I exchanged emails with him yesterday in fact. My fear is that he will give up guiding for photography as I see more and more of his work published (Orvis fly fishing catalogue covers, etc.)

Fly fishing
Durango, CO; Duranglers-Tom Knoppick/co-owner, Animas, San Juan, Rio Grande near Creede for stonefly hatch. Good guides, work hard. Fished with Spencer Schrieber several times on the San Juan and the Rio Grande. Salmon fly hatch on the Rio Grande in late June, early July kicks butt.

Estes Park, CO; Estes Angler

Bozeman/Livingston, MT; Brian Grossenbacher; Yellowstone River, spring creeks, lower Madison, Gallatin; best guide we've fished with, great photographer. Bozeman is great; want to retire there some day.

Arkansas; Scott Branyon

Going to Fernie, BC at the end of this month to fish the Elk River and other area rivers. Fishing with Elk Angler/Dave Brown. Never fished there before, but he comes highly recommended

If you are ever in New England and want to do some striper fishing I heartily recommend Captain Joel Koch. Joel's rates are very reasonable and he works hard to get you on the fish. He fishes the Piscataqua River out of Portsmouth NH. It is about 1 1/2 hrs north of Boston. The Piscataqua separates Maine and New Hampshire and the scenery is awesome. There is a submarine base in the river and he will gladly take you on a tour. Portsmouth is a destination in itself with lots of history and a beautiful downtown shopping area to keep the women busy while you fish. There are a couple of brewpubs that are must sees. One, The Redhook Cataqua House ,is just minutes away from the dock. The other is the Portsmouth Brewery which is downtown.

I have gone with Capt Joel 3 times and will go again. This summer 3 of us went and caught around fifty fish all in the 25-35in range.
