They should be on a retail peg right next to the foamy ear plugs and plastic safety glasses.

Gotcha. I thought the seven days applies to the appeal also. Does it become nationally applicable if the appeal deadline comes and goes in October?

So yeah, this is set up to be a cluster however...

...what if that's exactly the point? Behind the scenes agreement to make such a huge mess that DOJ has no choice but to concede?

ATF would be enjoined from enforcement nationwide against the named entities. Gotta check your state law as well, though.

If the ATF lets the stay lapse, I don't see how they don't just abandon registration entirely. All other companies then IMMEDIATELY have what - monopoly, due process, equal protection issues? This sounds like a Con Law final or a bar exam question. What a damn mess.

Silencer Shop and GOA customers/members would have a field day buying SBRs and suppressors. Everyone else is not going to sit by quietly. Also, how is ATF going to figure out exactly what suppressor is Silencer Shop? Cop walks up - "it's a Silencer Shop can, bro!" Wife threw away the receipt. Also, wjould it only apply to members of GOA at the time of filing? If not, then you just have to sign up for GOA when you buy your can or SBR.

Unless they are going to stop putting serial #s on them, won't be hard to figure out.

That's true. But if the original owner bought from Silencer Shop then the # is a "good" one. Is serial numbering requirement a separate law still intact for future suppressors? I don't know. If no serial #s, then game over.

Obviously this whole thing is a mess but I am fairly certain suppressors are still considered "firearms" per the GCA and will still require 4473s at purchase. So they'll have to stay serialized.

Luckily I am not in the market at the moment for more suppressors or SBRs so I am sitting back with my popcorn enjoying the NFA dismantling show.

So if you are a GOA member and live in one of the 15 states on the lawsuit, at 12:01am on 8/13/26 you can take your brace off your pistol and put a stock on it!? That is what I am hearing....

What's interesting to me is that this isn't in the news at all. Seems like a big change where someone should "think of the children!"

Why is that?

This is a big step in the right direction.

Yes...lawyers stop on in and update us!

From my understanding on this you could also sell a pre-owned suppressor private party to private party like you can a firearm in Texas.

Or start using those oil filter suppressors.

Silencer Shop with a lot of answers in this clip. Also, apparently SBRs and SBSs don't change because they are also included in the GCA. It sounds though like at 12:01 tonight you can walk into a Powered by Silencer Shop store, do a 4473 and take your can home.

Palmetto State Armory also dropped a good video on SBR/SBS situation. Basically if you are a GOA member AND you bought a qualifying firearm from PSA you can put a stock on a pistol or a shorter than 16" upper on your rifle lower.

What isn't clear yet is if you live in one of the 15 states also listed in the case. As if reads it does seem that if you are a GOA member (or other group on the lawsuit) AND live in one of the 15 states...you should be able to put a stock on your shorter than 16" rifle (or 18" for shotgun) and be OK....BUT I am not a lawyer.

I'm curious how this will affect my suppressor that is currently on order from Silencer Shop. Right now it's waiting on the dealer signature on the ATF paperwork...

Well my silencer shop portal says "Ready to pick up from your dealer". Yesterday it was still under review and not yet completed the dealer transfer. Called my dealer this morning and he say's the can hasn't arrived from Silencer Shop yet. Hopefully since I ordered it earlier this week I beat the rush and my suppressor isnt stuck in purgatory.

My local store sent this out this morning. They are a Powered By Silencer Shop dealer.

Quote:

& RECENT COURT RULINGS As many of you are aware, yesterday marked the deadline for the ATF to appeal the recent court ruling regarding suppressor transfers. You may have also seen recent media (including content from Silencer Shop) demonstrating silencer
transfers completed via Form 4473 alone.

Where Things Stand: As of today, the ATF has not issued official guidance or formal procedures for
FFLs/SOTs to follow under this ruling.

Our Policy: To protect our business and ensure our customers remain fully compliant with federal law, we will continue processing all silencer transfers through the standard Form 4 process until official,
written clarification is issued by the ATF.

"Buy & Hold" Option Available: Want to secure a suppressor before inventory shifts? We are offering a Buy & Hold option. You can purchase your silencer now,
and we will hold it in inventory
while we await official AT guidance on transfer procedures.

I've been loosely following this, but great news! I only see GOA members mentioned, but are 2nd Amendment Foundation members also included in that group? Became a member with them back when the pistol brace fiasco was going on, hoping I'm included in this win as well.

From what it sounds like, there are multiple groups included in the two cases, and presumably becoming a new customer of any of the shops included in the decision should make you included. But the lawyers are going to have to sort out what it all means. I think the fact that ATF is not going to appeal is a good sign and hopefully means they will come out sometime soon with some guidance on how they intend to apply the decision nationwide. On the other hand, staying in semi-limbo like this may be better because until the ATF acts formally, there is very little for anybody to use to get an injunction in another court.

This is what my dealer said on the phone this morning. Completely understandable to not want to put your FFL at risk. This is where I am worried about my suppressor being stuck in purgatory. The Form 4 was waiting on dealer signatures to be submitted, then it jumped to everything being completed. So I am assuming the Form 4 was never submitted. I am curious how Silencer Shop is communicating with their dealers on all of this.

silencershop.com is down. Edit: website back up.

Dang. I bought a suppressor last week. I just confirmed my ATF login/password/pin with them. I hope that got saved.

When I was on the website today, I clicked on my FFL - it popped up a notification stating that NFA registration still required for your shop.

If I owned a shop, I wouldn't sell until ATF confirmed or SS agreed to indemnify me. Probably only if ATF confirms, though.

I went to the Silencer Shop store on 183 in Leander today and purchased a suppressor. They are shipping it to a sore just down the road called Watermark Arms, which is the only place that had all the correct processes in place. Academy is working with them to get on board as well but they were not sure on timeframe. You have to have a Silencer Shop account, which you can do online or at the in-store kiosk. It apparently has to be a suppressor they have in-stock. They said it takes a few days to send it to Watermark and when it is ready you go by and fill out a 4473. They also said no transfer fees, but I am not sure how Watermark is being compensated for all the 4473s they are going to be dealing with. They said they have sold 300-400 suppressors today

A few years ago when I bought suppressors through silencer shop and a local dealer I didn't pay any transfer fees to the local dealer. I assumed silencer shop had some dealer payment built in to the cost of the suppressor and was passed on to him. Purely speculation.
