Anyone have a recipe or product? The alkaline keto diet is great for losing weight and feeling better, but the food you eat can get a little boring.

I have bad acid reflux, and it's really helping with that.

I've also lost 24 pounds.

I read every label of anything I eat.
I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.

The low sodium thing might be impossible without some
Other nasty preservatives.

We never put sugar on ours

Sirloin. Medium rare. You gotta preserve it one way or another otherwise in something else. We haven't tried pickling meat but I guess that the other way.

Yeah, after reading labels of everything I eat, it's amazing how much junk is in our food supply.

I'm able to make my lunch at work every day, so that helps me better control what I take in; usually Egg whites from an actual egg, mushrooms, or some other type of vegetable, and a little hot sauce.

The only sweetener I use is pure Stevia that has no other sweeteners such as erythritol in it.

I'm more concerned about sugar; a little less concerned about salt. I only use Himalayan salt if I put salt on anything.

Heard about this, but I have not tried it, not sure what is considered low sodium.

That is very low salt. I'm on a renal diet, dialysis, and I should not have more than 2000mg salt per day. Not sure the fat is low enough for the OP. That does not bother me.

Not worried about fat. That stuff looks good.

Made this a while back and it was pretty tasty. About 75% less sodium with the coconut aminos versus soy, and you can even cut the honey back by half or eliminate if you wish, and it was good stuff. Think I cut about 1/2 of honey out and added more pepper flakes.

Look into making biltong, or see if you can buy it somewhere. Traditionally, it's just seasoned and air dried strips of meat. I've made some before and it lasts for quite a while.

I'll look into that. I'm driving all across Texas this next week visiting family, so I'm sure there's someplace where they make it or have it.

Farmer Bill's Provisions is pretty damn good biltong.

"Fleccas20" will get you 20% off your order. It's good stuff.

Almost all jerky recipes, even biltong, are going to have 2% salt by weight to keep it from spoiling.

You can substitute coconut aminos for soy sauce and low
sodium worcestershire if your recipe calls for it.

Carnivore Snax
I

I did carnivore diet and lost 35 lb quick. The diet is so boring but works. It's amazing how much food that they put sugar in. I too use pure stevia to help the sweet craving.
The reason I quoted this is that I picked up one of each at Costco a while back. Sirloin was least favorite but not terrible. Wife and I ate the heck out of it.

My local Costco has this on sale for $12.97 a package and it's pretty darn good. Sodium content looks better than most of the alternatives. A little light on flavor so I added some smoked pepper to the package and shook it around.

There's a place in Llano that makes and sells biltong. Pretty neat place.

Yeah, but too much sodium for me.

A buddy of mine, before he was married, had a "biltong room" for a while. He had an extra bedroom where he would run clothes line and hang venison to dry. For supper, he would often grab a Shiner or two and hang out in the room and eat biltong off the line and drink beer. Getting married has a way of changing a man.

My father died of a heart attack at 59. Course, he smoked, drank, ate whatever - I've never smoked or drank, but my diet wasn't always the best.

I don't want to die early. And, salt makes you retain water - I'm really watching weight every day to see how different food affects me. If I intake too much salt, I'm not able to do that as well as I'm retaining too much water.

But water fluctuations /= weight fluctuation

This time of year, my body weight will change by 5-7 pounds after a 2hr training session. Bc water.

Weight in the am, be consistent, and take an average over a multi week period. Or even a week long period. Chasing daily weight with considerations for water fluctuations is a dog chasing its tail imo

You can buy biltong at Brett's Biltong in Llano.

It is addictive, and expensive. Great combo.

Yeah, I already know about them re: for my wife.

I basically eat similar things every day, sans mixing up different types of low carb vegetables and fruits, many of which will come from my garden once it starts producing.

Yeah, I always weigh in the AM. Not consistent about time - but getting a scale for the office (weigh at home, weigh at work, subtract).

Sodium is an essential mineral at the cellular level. You've gotta have enough water to dissolve the minerals and make them bioavailable. If you're retaining water because you're eating salt, it's prolly an indication that you're dehydrated more than an indication that you're consuming too much salt.

It's counterintuitive, but I bet if you up your water intake, you'll see the water retention actually decrease. If you're not supplying enough water regularly, your body is retaining water to make sure it has enough to process the minerals. If you make water available more regularly, your system will learn that it doesn't have to retain water.

It also means you pee every 45 minutes, but it's better for you anyway.

There used to be concern it led to heart attacks. Sodium does restrict blood vessels a little but the effect is temporary.
Trump will fix it.

The problem with salt it's in everything. The recommended daily salt 2500 mg per day. That sounds like a lot but it's really not. Just look at this jerky posted. 6 servings I assume is 6 strips is 500mg. That's just a snack.

Now look at 3 meals a day and it's very easy to go way over 2500, especially if you eat a lot processed foods, junk or fast food. I'm on a renal diet so 2000 limit for me and lots of other minerals. I've learned that most high salt foods also have a lot other junk I'm not supposed to have.

So watching salt pretty much helps avoiding the other stuff I don't need.

A MD Anderson nutritionist told me even the fruits and vegetables out of your garden have salt in them.

That's kind of what I was going off of. Less than 2500 mg per day. And, yes, it's in everything you eat. Especially the type stuff I'm eating for snacks now (pork rinds, etc). I've found some low sodium pork rinds I eat with homemade queso for a snack.
