Thank you for popping in here - it reminded me that this thread link should probably be shared here.

OP, you'll find the auto board also has a lot of info on the subject. A couple posters who have shared here have documented many trips over there.

great thread

I commend all you guys out doing this. It's ok in my book to be an enthusiast in whatever you like to do…. be it overlanding, hiking, mountain climbing, fishing, wake boarding, shooting, hunting……whatever.
A person has a right to spend his money anyway he wants and I kinda think it's cool guys fix their trucks/jeeps/SUV's up to do the off-roading and trail riding. I have never done it with vehicles but have with horses and I, like guys on this thread, have spent lots of money on it…..and thats ok. It's about having fun and enjoyment and a reward for busting our butts working hard all day to make the $$$ to be able to have that time of fun.
One thing has stuck out to me in reading this thread and the one on the auto board………all you guys had your kids and wives with you. That's pretty damn good in my book….and should be commended greatly on that!! That's what it's all about anyway…..good for you guys. Our country needs more of that.
Carry on you guys! May you never run out of new trails and adventures and outdoors to see!

UTV are ruining Colorado trails. People rent them in town and rip up the trails with no regard for others or the preservation of the trails.

Love the rig!

Nissan did themselves no favors by discontinuing the Xterra. Since they did, Toyota has sold nearly 1.5 million 4Runners. If they're going to still make a Frontier, they should slap a cab on it and sell the Xterra.

Moab and other areas, too.

The townspeople are fed up and BLM is closing access due to the damage the cause.

Heck, they're even disliked at many offroad parks (but tolerated by owners due to $$). Constant high-rev engines, disco LED's, and obnoxious tejano or rap music don't make a lot of friends.

Looks like a nice quiet place. Can't wait to eventually get out there myself.

For any of y'all that are working on outfitting a rig and looking at skid plates, take a look at Talon's Garage (Talon's Garage). They are based in NW houston and build all their plates in Houston. I have a full set on my 4runner that I got after they used it as the guinea pig to check the fit on all their plates against the KDSS suspension. Shaun used to fly blackhawks and he and his wife are both licensed nurses now that have turned their side gig making catalytic converter shields into a full time business now.

I was just down there this weekend letting them use my 3rd gen Tacoma as the guinea pig for a new fuel tank skid, an upgraded transfer case skid, and A-arm skids. Really well made plates in Aluminum or Steel (I have the aluminum) and they are putting a lot of thought and effort into the proper construction and fit.

They are also in the early stages of working on bed racks and sliders as well, but those are probably a little ways further down the road.

If we're going to recommend local companies, I have to suggest Caliraised LED in Fort Worth for sliders, skids, roof racks, and of course… Chinese LED lights.
Their fabrication is all done in S Fort Worth and they regularly offer sales. I've been running their skid plates for a few years now. They're definitely beaten but keep my bits safe.

The other is Tandem Offroad in Haltom City - they're an automotive shop specializing in 4wd Toyotas. Great service and knowledgeable mechanics.

I have Cali's bed rack, cat shield, and bed stiffeners on my Tacoma. Good company and good quality stuff as well. Only reason I am going to replace their cat shield with one from Talon is that the Talon shield is full coverage and covers the transmission while linking up with the engine and transfer case skids. They are on the short list I am considering for rock sliders, since they are one of the few that makes sliders that fit on long bed Tacomas.
