He's upset that nobody is impressed that a grown man is slumming at a ski shop for a living. Now he's taking his ball and going home.

I dont work at ski Resort. You don't know me my guy. I probs make more than you do in year but I'm Not gonna flex. I'll just ski circles around You and laugh switch the whole way down as your struggle on your 154 RTLs.

I Gotta house you can rent of you can afford it. It's like $4500 a night. Lmk when you want to book it.
Good lord. I had to double-check and make sure I hadn't strayed to the GB. Where did this pretentious "my guy" BS poster come from?

Alright my guy. Think What You want if it makes You feel better. God bless You. I'm sure you're a trash skier.

I'm out. This short bus doesn't have Room. Adis amigos. Disfruta.

I think they're are alot of people here that appreciate the discounts I've given them. You want to talk **** about where I Work? Get Over yourself. You don't know me. You don't know Why I Work there and You don't know how many thousands probably 10s of thousands I've given people off on this thread. You know nothing but it's cool. You're the same entitled assshole I deal w every day. You're nothing special.

Off to catch some Tree jibs before I catch my flight. God bless you guys.

JBob def skies 153 in matching Spyder w his partner and loves putting the bar down. Probs has at least a 1.5 inch gaper gap and plays peekabo street on groomed greens and blues. Especially through the kids learning zone because it makes him feel cool. My kinda guy. $20 bucks says he's from Dallas without looking. Probs skies in a 31 and mondos at 27. He just seems like that kinda guy.

He's always opinionated but generally a really helpful poster. Can come off a bit strong and isn't everyone's cup of tea but he personally did me a real solid with some demos at way discounted prices and wealth of knowledge all through the ski season

I think he goes a bit off the rails ranting from time to time like today

Bayou/Panther is an acquired taste! Has a ton of ski knowledge and has saved thousands for posters in ski gear and equipment.

Just do like I do. Read all of his posts in Spicoli's voice and appreciate the good knowledge he brings but block out the intense ski hill snob that comes out every now and then.

I wasn't on here saying that I think it's going to be great skiing, I know they only have a 12in base. I'm not expecting it to be some big great ski trip like going to steamboat springs when they've been dumped on (been there done that). I'm just out here trying to introduce my wife to a fun sport that I've grown up doing. Shouldn't you be all about introducing somebody to the sport of skiing? I don't see why you need to pop off on people for choosing a resort that hasn't gotten a lot of snow?

Here's a quote from you last year when you were JustPanda talking about how great Pajarito can be if it has a lot of snow. I know it doesn't have a lot of snow this year but damn dude, pop another edible or something.
Quote:

Edit to add: like I mentioned earlier in the thread, I'd much rather ride a small mountain like Pajarito when it has snow than Breck because Pajarito has some solid T2B skiing. It's 1/5 the size of Breck with runs 2x+ as long. Plus, virtually no diagonals of death because of that layout whereas Breck has one every 200 yards.

Edit to also add: From what I've found and heard in the shop etc, alot of the people that go to Breck have gone there forever. They have never skied outside of Sumco and usually not outside of Breck. So, I think it's one where they don't know. We have SO many guests that come in and when we ask where they usually ski they hit us with the "we always ski Breckenridge and we LOVE it but we decided to ski vail this time" and then return after the 1st or 2nd day of skiing and follow it up with "we will never go back to Breckenridge. We wish we'd have done this 10 years ago, How's BC compared to Vail?".
Here's another one.
Quote:

Just finished skiing it earlier this year since I have family in Los Alamos. It's a fun mountain but VERY RAW. I wouldn't plan a vacation around it, but if you're in the area and want to catch some runs, they have some solid blacks up around Breathless, Precious, Nother Mother, Sidewinder, etc

As mentioned above it's mostly T2B skiing so once you're on something, that what you're taking down. There aren't really any outs except East Road.

Overall, I love pajarito when it has snow. Some years it hasn't even opened. I'd honestly say I prefer it's layout to Breck or Keystone.
I'll edit to add that I really appreciate all the advice you give on here on gear and other ski related things and it's all really good advice. I just don't understand the hate of people going to resorts that you do not deem worthy this year because they don't have snow.

This. He's got a very different lifestyle and outlook than 99% on this board that allows him to ski 100+ days a year and hit spots most of us can only dream of. Why I called him out was the bagging on people that may not have means, flexibility, etc to ski anything but NM for example. I hate NM skiing too from some bad historical experiences there but damn if I would ever chastise someone for getting out there and enjoying it.

To your point, everyone is super appreciative of him and he is a great resource, but no need to bag on people just trying to get out wherever that may be and introduce others to skiing

Did I miss a bunch of erased posts? One minute, it's a poster inquiring about a possible trip in February to Red River or Angel Fire and the next is several post in a row from Bayou, seemingly getting more and more agitated that someone is looking at a possible trip to NM a month from now? I'm a little confused at the direction this took?

I live in Amarillo so it's the closest skiing for me. If I was driving up from Houston, I wouldn't even consider going to a small hill in NM for a ski trip. Taos, maybe.

Speaking of no snow in NM, here were the conditions at the top of the Gondola (11,400') at Ski Apache on Sunday. Very sun exposed at this spot, there is still some actual snow when you drop down toward the north (left in to the trees from this angle). I'm amazed they've been able to keep the top open at all, but definitely a rough ride down. I'm going to get rentals until if/when there is a lot more snow.

Why are you such an arrogant *****? A good ass whipping would get you fixed.
If speaking the truth is an arrogant ***** then put me in that club. I grew up in northern NM and in my youth skied competitions albeit I wasn't nationally ranked like his kids. I'm use to the old days where Taos had a 120" base by this time but that was ages ago. Bayou is spot on with his advice and he provides unbelievable info and seems to have helped out massive amounts of people get equipment, deals, and steered people in good directions.

As a local, I'm not trying to tell anyone to not come enjoy the mountains of NM - they're beautiful. Please come, spend $ for local business (they sure need it), but please don't call it a ski trip as your amount and quantity of skiing is just not there. It's like playing in a mud puddle and saying you went to the beach. Okay, maybe you got some time in the water but be realistic of what your true experiences was. If you really want skiing, NM doesn't have the snow. If you've never been on snow or skis, well you'll get an experience (and hopefully enjoy it) but it's only because you've never experienced the real thing.

Come enjoy NM, it's open and people will welcome you. But, don't pretend like the locals are trying to hide snow from you.

Is this just like this in the last 10 years or so? I've skied in Taos and Ski Santa Fe in the past and besides one year at Ski Santa Fe I thought it was ok. Maybe it was 20 years ago?

Yea - that went sideways quickly. We just got back from Breck; roughly 20" dropped while we were there and the ski school improved my kids. I had seen his comments on sideways but I only saw that as a way to get to different peaks. Maybe it's easier in Vail, winter Park, Steamboat, Crestee Bute (hated that place) but I still like it. Just don't get the hate - just comes off sooo pretentious when the bulk on this thread get 3-5 days a year if I had to guess.

I'm not trying to take a side in this BS, but to run the one person who over the years has given not only his time and knowledge, but as other have said, thousands upon thousands of dollars of savings to members of this board is kinda ridiculous imo. I don't know JP, never met him, don't even know his name, but his would kinda be like running the 2-3 snake experts off the snake thread. As far as his tone or whatever, just know that you cannot quite understand what someone is typing/texting on a message board. It's not fluid conversation like person to person, and a whole lot can be lost in translation. I do BELIEVE when he was trying to direct people away from NM, it's because he honestly believes it will be a mistake to spend time or money there THIS year, at least so far. But i'll sit back and wait for the newly minted person who's going to bring the same knowledge and helpful insight and savings as JP did.

30-40 years ago you could almost always count on respectable to incredible snow year in year out. The climate in this area has definitely changed in the last 25 or so years. When I say we have no snow it is this year and this moment. And it doesn't look promising for later in the year. Last couple years weren't bad but they ranged from very good to moderate. Taos and Santa Fe are usually the ones with the better snow yearly due to location and elevation. NM isn't as well known and is at the southern end of the Rockies so it's more temperamental.

I've lived and skied in two Winter Olympic cities (Sapporo, Grenoble) and skied most big resorts (and smaller ones) in the Rockies, Japan, France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy and Taos can hold its own in. Some of the smaller NM places like Sipapu are as fun as can be for family. Now, disclaimer, I think people who like apres ski scene are doing it right and having fun, but my friends and I are entirely about the skiing. My Euro trash friends and I will ski at a place in Austria and after a long day, it's a hot soak, big dinner at the house/hotel, maybe a few beers and visiting around a fire and early to bed, early to breakfast and at the lift when it opens. The kids are the same way. I'm amazed at the skill level of some of the group's kids at 10 years old. Rinse, repeat.

Absolutely - he's clearly talking about this year. He has a great knowledgeable of NM and has been spot on and also very complimentary or NM in all his posts in previous years.

I agree but it's one thing just to say don't go to New Mexico because the snow is bad but it's another thing to start saying all the BS about "I make more than you, I can ski circles around you, I hope I can set your din wrong"
Yeah, the guy has tons of experience but why whip out the I make more than you card? That's pretty odd for a thread about skiing.

Well from what i remember reading this earlier today while making more money than anyone else here on the OB,, kidding guys/gals, it was when someone attacked him for "working in a ski shop" as an adult. No one was totally right, and no one was totally wrong from earlier, but now can't wait to see what everyone else pitches in to make keeping this yearly thread bookmarked, or not. Anyway, enough of this for me, looking forward to more ski post and pics and good times for everyone on the slopes.

His posts were over the top but with his experience I don't think he was fully understanding that most here are fine with low base, groomed geens/blues, and that most of us would honestly struggle big time on a real powder day.
The attacks came after Jbob decided to attack him and make an ass of himself.
