Finished up our 2nd annual 1 day ski trip to Wolf Creek. Lines, weather, and # of people was fantastic. We made a total of 25 runs down the mountain and we are beat. Now to sleep and make a 5:15 flight home outta ABQ!

P.S. are other ski spots as awful at maps and marking trails? We ended up on a black and some rough blue moguls we never intended to

Himmelhaus on California side. German beer hall with good food

Great spot.

Gamble at hard rock so you can sports bet for the tourney.

Where are you staying?

For the west coast, light, blower snow. So cold and so light. It reminded me of growing up on our trips to Taos. Just endless, relentless floating on nothing. A unique PNW pow. Legs are toast on a few runs.

Short trip, holiday party to get back to - wuh wuhh. But we hosted another dad and daughter in the van for camp (Sooners unfortunately). But we all had a blast. Daughter ripped ski school and chilled the afternoon in child care.

How was the Govy 500? Mt Ashland road was probably the worst I've ever seen it with people that had no business driving on it. ODOT snow plow broke down so the lot and the road were a mess. Saw 5 wrecks on the way up and nearly was in one on the way down. Truck fishtailed and blocked traffic but was on a steep downhill section where it took me 100 yards to finally come to a stop. Thankfully the cars behind me saw it too and stopped but not before fishtailing as well.

I did think it was funny to see a Subaru pull out a Chevy 2500.

Most Colorado snow forecasts look depressing the next 10 days. Sad for holiday skiers. I'm hoping something comes brought to improve things soon.

No. They're having almost if not the worst season out of the last 30. They're at like 53% average snow pack so somewhere in the 45-50 inch below average acumulation.

Steamboat picked Up about 6 Today and expect 8 between Monday - Friday of next week.

Only other CO Hills that should see anywhere close to that over the same period are

Updated: Telly 9
Vail BC Snowmass 8

In terms of major mountain w the hightest snow pack compared to average it'd be BC still holding 124% of average. Overall top in State is Monarch at a whopping 154%. That's an insane Number.

The bottom Hills in CO would be Steamboat at 83%, Keystone at 85%, and WC at 96% but dropping fast as they have only had about 5 inches over 3 weeks w about 3 inches over the next 10. So less than 10 inches forecast between end of Nov and Jan. They usually get about 75 inches in December so that's a huge dryspell. It may be only of the driest decembers on record.

If you're looking at drainage basins,

Arkansas is the best. Then Gunnison, then Upper RG/San Juans. Those are all above 100%.

Colorado Headwaters (Ike Pass to Glenwood/Aspen to GJ) is at 100%.

Yampa, North Platte, South Platte and Animas are around 77-80% with Yampa being the lowest of the 3. It's at 77 and around the 14th percentile of the last 40 years on record.

Arkansas is at 130% and 79% percentile. The crazy thing is WC is in the South West part of the zone and has been basically completely shut out since Thanksgiving. Meanwhile Monarch in the North West portion is at 154%.

Just me and teenage som

I can use 2 of my buddy passes for Sunday the 9th to help out a little. Would bring ticket price down to $149 each for that day. Logistically only possible for me to do it that day because I have to be there in person each day they're used for them to work.

Greatly appreciate the offer! Some medical stuff has popped up that is going to cost some coin in the next few months. So now I'm really doubting we'll get to keystone. If that changes I'll let you know. Would definitely suggest having a drink or two for your help

For now I'm going to look out for cheaper yet still decent options. So far I've found purgatory. It would save me about $1k although it would require flights thru Denver. I looked at ABQ but flights there are waaaay more expensive

Anyone have any apparel gear from Dope? Looking for a new snowboard jacket that won't break the bank and only used 5-6x a year.

The forecast for next week is looking good. Everything I'm hearing is a strengthening forecast. Usually when they start at 6 move to 8 then 9 then 10 then 11, it's gonna be a good week.

Just up'd Telly to 11
Vail and BC to 11
Snowmass 10
Key 7 Breck 8
WC 5
Steamboat 14

All it takes it's something sitting for longer that expected to make alot more. I think we're been out on the days they report 5" and you're at the top in the back in the trees and you're knee deep. If you know how your mountain catches snow, you're at a huge advantage.

Vail it's 11, 14, 7 2 and China Bowl/Mongolia
BC it's grouse mountain, red bfalo, cinch, and strawberry down to the strawberry trees. Assay golddust and ltigo / rose bowl usually get good pow too

Not Larkspur Arrowhead BOP or Backside of BG unless it dumps. BG aspens are slapping too.

On powder days I actually prefer Vail to BC. Its busier but deeper. BC trees don't ski out for a week after a Big Snow.

Where are you building again? Ridgeway?

Are you keeping the timeshare thing at Telluride?

Daddy just got word of big Christmas bonus and thinking of finally pulling the trigger on a lot somewhere.

Jr is there this week with a big group of college aged friends. He said it snowed 5 inches before they got there Sunday and the skiing is ok. Looks like they didn't ski yesterday and the No Name Saloon was the beneficiary.

College kids on a ski trip don't need to be drinking fancy whiskey with fancy food. They need to be slamming down Busch light and doing Jaeger bombs.

Outside of Ridgway - on Log Hill Mesa. Really happy with that decision. Less than hour from Telluride (not ideal for skiiing but plenty doable), 30 minutes from Ouray, 35 minutes from MTJ. Ridgway is such a great little town. PM me if you'd like to discuss...I love talking about this stuff.

Yes we'll keep the fractional in Telly. We love it and it's been a great deal for us. And value has almost tripled since we've owned with a long waiting list of folks wanting to buy. I don't see us ever getting rid of it.

What was the lot price/acre?
MAS444
How long do you want to ignore this user?

Roughly 42k. I'm sure you know this....but there are so many different factors that affect that value of lots up there. Utilities and access are obviosuly huge, but most of the stuff on Log Hill has good access and utilities to lot line. But views are huge - and one of our primary criteria. 2 lots next door to each other could have totally different, or nonexistent, views. Some things that I loved about ours were it's "end of road," views of Sneffels and Cimmarons from ground, surrounded by a canyon on 2 sides and large, mature Ponderosa pines.

Hah, Govy is always popping. We avoid most of it by camping near Meadows and waking up at 6 to park in the lot.

But yeah, it was rough this last weekend. They shutdown both Meadows access road and T-Line highway at certain times. Saw on Bach's Instagram that Century was also closed at some point when the plow + sheriff slid down a bank into a bunch of cars.

I see plenty of cinder being thrown around by ODOT, but I've only seen the de-icers once this season. Not sure what's going on.

yup. I've looked at lots of lots over in South Fork. Wish I'd pulled the trigger 3 years ago because they've doubled in price/acre. People flipping them now.

Utilities is a big one to consider. $42k doesn't sound too bad with good access. Decent sized lots over there? (5-10?)
