You're SOL outside of buddy pasess unless you had a full Epic or Epic local last year. Not a day pass but the actually Epic/Epic Local.

Edit to add: only other option is to get 50% pass or comp pass from a FT worker. There's a .001% of that happening. Mine were always spoken for months before the season started and most hold them for friends and family. I can ask but I doubt anyone will give them to me.

Your best best for a value ticket is going to be Copper on a Thursday. They are $99/adult and less for kids but only on Thursdays. Other wise it's $179-204 a day.

Copper is a great mountain as well. And damn, didn't realize copper window tickets went up so much. I remember being shocked when vail hit the $200 window ticket price.

We're back in OR after 3 days of Deer Valley and a day of Bird.

Camped out near the gnarliest hill you've never heard of, but should: Anthony Lakes. Some of the sickest side country next to Whistler and Baker. We ski that in the morning (in-bounds) with the newly minted 6 year old. Then home. Meadows' dad and daughter date with another dad/daughter on Sunday.

Season crushes so far: 10 days and just a notch over 150k of vert.

Yes! It's my overshare area. I talk way too much about it IRL.

170" AWD Sprinter. Upfitted by Overland Van Project here in Portland. Seats 4 / Sleeps 4 (bed elevates down for wife/daughter and lounge converts to a bed for dog and I). Shower and toilet. Hot water and cabin heat sip off the diesel tank. Air-fryer and induction stove. Starlink smokes. We have EcoFlow batteries (10kwh) * 2 with two solar panels. I'm a remote worker and work from it a few times a week while skiing or riding.

It's the best purchase we've ever made. I daily it. We leave town Friday - sleep on or near resort and park first row at 6AM. Commute during downtimes and overnight camp to avoid the rush back to town! Ultimately an investment in time on weekends. There's so much within 4-10 hours of us, but you need to make it an overnight to make it worth it. Stuff like North Cascade/Baker/Whistler or Sun Valley/Bachelor. The ability to just go and exist anywhere for a few days ad hoc is great!

It's pricy: Revels are $140k, Storyteller's are $200k - our semi-custom was right in-between. Second home - so itemize and write off the interest.

He's the best camp boy! Thank you!

Happy to answer any questions. It's a stupid luxury and a process. We'd do some things different in hindsight.

But still. It's our best lives.

I can use 2 of my buddy passes for Sunday the 9th to help out a little. Would bring ticket price down to $149 each for that day. Logistically only possible for me to do it that day because I have to be there in person each day they're used for them to work.

How hard is it to mount my own bindings?
bjork
How long do you want to ignore this user?
It's not hard. It's drilling a few holes, fill with glue and screw them in. But you need the OEM jig for hole placement/alignment. You need to know the math on your boot and centerline. You need to know how to adjust forward/toe pressure, AFD and DIN.

Just take them to a shop.

Trying to justify buying skis, boots, bindings. Ski 1-2 times a year.

Intermediate/Advance ability - no need to do crazy crap anymore.
Boot Size 9.5
6'-0 / 200 lbs

Any good package deals out there?

You can download paper templates for just about every binding ever made for free online. Get the wintersteiger bit and measure measure measure

Honestly - Just wait - find a rental shop and ask them who they use - it takes 15-20 minutes but it's another ski art - can you do it? Yeah w the right tools and just. do you want to have that **** on you? No way my guy.

Bad binding mount = 2 broken femurs. Ask me why one of the oldest and most popular ski shops in Vail isn't there anymore… now it's Christy Sports. I bet you guys know them… They bought out the Assets to cover the legal indem of the old shop. It was a steal for them but the older shop had no choice because of the legal bills Medical Bills and so on

Sooo ski boots go in mondo and you want to feel the insole and hardshell. I'd suggest going into a shop that sella gear and does fittings the next time you're in a MOUNTAIN TOWN. Nothing below 7,000ft (joking but serious).

Also get your own helmet

For skis that's a whole different ballgame. I'd say go to a ski shop and rent a new set / have them changed out each day for the next years Worth of ski days and then make a dec based on what resonanted.

If you shop the off season or have some flexibility amongst a few choices, you can get last years brand new stuff for dirt cheap. You can also find very lightly used good condition demo skis for a song too. They very well could have several seasons of light use left in them. But the best thing about boots isn't saving money, it is getting the shells and liners custom fit for your feet.

Skiessentials and Evo both have a ton of great deals right now on left over 2324 skis and bindings. If you know your boot sole length they will mount them free before shipping.

Also, everyone will say not to do it, but... I watched a ton of bootfitting videos, traced and measured my feet every which way 3x and bought boots online that fit great.

eta, my feet are very wide, medium arch, and otherwise completely normal/average. If you have any wierd ankle bones poking out, big toe joint pointy spots, super high arch, etc., just go to a mountain town bootfitter

He just means don't go to a "ski shop" or "bootfitter" in Dallas. Use one on a mountain that does it all day, everyday, and have customers who walk out the door, ski, feel issues, and come right back for adjustments.

The cheapest place I can find is $60 and at least a 3 day wait. I don't really want to have to drop them off and then pick them up a week later.

We'll see.

Is it a ski shop? If so, tell them you'll do $60 and a case of beer if they can turn them around same day. If they're like any of the shops I ever Worked at or Managed, they won't say no.

I guarantee Schweitzer has a tune shop on resort. Drop them off and they'll be done by the end of your ski day.

They'll want your boots for 10 min at some point.

Not shaping up for a great forecast between now and Christmas. Not much snowfall (Steamboat expects 13 but every where else maybe 5 and Steamboat needs it they're at 90% of median).

Not looking good at all. If the forecast is true, by early January itll be around 25-30 percentile. It's 53% right now. 103% of median. It's supposed to be warm too. 35-38 degrees in Vail next week. Avg is 28-29 in Dec.
