What is everyone on the OB using to kill EVERYTHING on a caliche pad? I have tried roundup and my weeds seem to be roundup resistant. Need to get this taken care of, losing control of my pad.

Not sure what its called but you need to use the product the railroads use, it kills weeds and they dont come back, cant remember the name

Do you mind spraying diesel around your place? Diesel with a splash of triclopyr would definitely do it.

Salt water?
^^^ This plus a little of remedy is what I use for pads and fence lines.Shallowminded14 said:
RM43 is some bad stuff
I don't wear a mask when I spray it because I don't have a perpetually open wound between my legs, but defiantly don't think glyphosate is good for any living being lol.tamc93 said:^^^ This plus a little of remedy is what I use for pads and fence lines.Shallowminded14 said:

Used to be fairly inexpensive until they decided the glyphosate (and covid) would kill us all.
Running some quick comparison and math based upon how i spray:Dirty-8-thirty Ag said:
Thanks Fullback!
Gonna try RM43 and Mojave mixed together on my skid sprayer for the UTV. From my research it's a pretty potent combination.
It's been a while since I took Merkel's class……. The first one is essentially "Roundup Extended Control". Does imazapyr have some soil activity as well as systemic? Roundup certainly needs a helper on more mature broadleaf weeds (especially perennials). I recall diuron having lots of soil activity and hanging around).Quote:
RM 43 Main Active Chemical Glyphosate 43.68% Imazapyr, isopropylamine salt 0.78%
Mojave Main Active Chemical - Imazapyr- 7.78%, Diuron- 62.22%
Yes. Imazapyr is a residual.Quote:

My cocktail tends to last about 6-months, but is only a barrier for so long depending on the weather. This year I may not have to spray again other than a couple of spots.fullback44 said:
yeah, round up or RM43 will control vegetation a about 4-5 weeks and its all back and growing! Just standard maintenance, I guess the Mojave extends that control time but nothings forever!
I looked at upping the imazapyr percentage in my cocktail, but that stuff is expensive as well.Ribeye-Rare said:Yes. Imazapyr is a residual.Quote:

FWIW, I mix my own hopped-up variant of RM43 by buying glyphosate and imazapyr (27%) separately and adding a small amount of non-ionic surfactant. I don't have my mix percentages handy, but I've been using them for several years now (although I didn't do it at all this year due to excessive dryness preventing vegetation growth).
The percentage of imazapyr (compared to glyphosate) in my mix is higher than that in the RM43 (which is a good product).
Unfortunately, about the best length of time I can get on control is 9 months here in Central Texas. Unlike diamonds, vegetation control is not 'forever'. Like they say, all it takes is time, money and effort.
But, control your vegetation, or it will control you. Pick one.
